What can I do to help keep athletes safer?
Look for ways to PREVENT problems. RESPOND to issues when they arise. REPORT concerns.

Be aware of what's going on around you.

Know and abide by team policies that help us know what's okay and what's not.

Put the well-being of young people ahead of athletic performance, embarrassment, inconvenience, or offense.

Tell your coach, and parent, if you receive a head injury.

Swimmers ages 12+, sign up for the free online training (Zoom meeting or self-guided ~45 min course) through USA Swimming. More information about this suggested training is located on USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Training Resource page (scroll to the bottom for information about taking a self-guided course.)

Athletes turning 18 are required to take the Athlete Protection Training (APT) course within 30 days of their birthday. Information can be found on USA Swimming’s APT Resource Site and must be renewed annually. All new and existing adult members of USA Swimming, including adult athletes, must satisfactorily complete APT as required by the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
