Two Exciting Additions to our Coaching Staff

Megan Thompson Hangliter

We are very excited to announce the addition of two great new coaches to our coaching staff. We have interviewed a number of candidates, as we searched for two coaches to add to our staff that are first and foremost great people, who will value and invest in all of our young athletes and that are also great swim coaches. We believe that we have found this in the two new members of our coaching staff that we are announcing today.

First, Randy Teeters will be joining ASC as our New Head Coach. Randy has a long and distinguished career of over 20 years as a swim coach with a wide variety of experiences. Randy has coached at all levels of the sport of swimming over the course of his career, including learn to swim, summer rec, high school and college. Randy has most recently been the National Group coach at the Bee Cave location of Nitro Swimming for the last 8 years, where he has achieved a tremendous level of success in working with young athletes. Randy is a life long student of the sport of swimming, and shares our passion for providing an environment where all of our young athletes know they are valued and supported. Randy is married to Alice Teeters and they have 3 children, Stefen, Victor and Ruby Rose, who are all swimmers. Randy responsibilities at ASC will include being the lead coach of our National Group, where he will be assisted by Jonathan Brandt, our Associate Head Coach. In addition you will see Randy on the deck spending time with all of our age groups each week, and our coaching staff will report to Randy as he assumes overall responsibility for what happens on our ASC pool deck each day.

Second, Chuck McClune will be joining ASC as our Head Development Age Group Coach. Chuck also has a long and distinguished career as a swim coach. Chuck has been coaching at all levels of the sport of swimming for over 35 years. He has achieved tremendous success at the club, high school and college level over the course of his career. Chuck obviously loves the sport of swimming, and he has an amazing ability to recall swims and times by young athletes who swam for him more than 2 decades ago. Chuck was most recently the Lead Performance Group coach at Nitro Swimming. Chuck led groups of all ages and levels of experience during the 10 plus years he has been in Austin. Chuck is married to Marni McClune, and has a son, Connor, who is also a swimmer. Chuck’s responsibilities as Head Development Coach will include being the Lead Coach for one of our Bronze groups, and ensuring that our development program, made up of our Bronze and Silver groups, is providing a fun environment for our youngest athletes. where we teach them the basics of competitive swimming, and where we instill a life long love of the sport within them. Chuck will also be the Lead Coach for our Senior Group, where he will be assisted by Coach Seth.

Please join us in welcoming Randy and Chuck to the ASC team and to the ASC pool deck. They will both be joining us full time on the ASC deck lo later than Monday, September 11th, however you may see them around the pool sooner than that.        We are confident you will enjoy getting to know them and that you will quickly see the passion that they each have for working with young athletes and for the sport of swimming.
