The Foundation Squads serve as the entry level to our program for swimmers 10 & Under. The purpose of this squads are to teach the 4 competitive strokes, turns, and starts. We will introduce racing during practice. Daily emphasis will be skill development and fun! 

Attendance: Recommend 3-4 times each week.

 

Training Offered: 4x week for 45 minutes (in water)

Swim Meets: Competitive experiences will also be introduced during normal training times. Foundation Swimmers are not eligible for participation in sanctioned swim meets. 

Goals of the Foundation Squads

·       Swim 200 freestyle with correct turns

·       Swim 100 backstroke with correct turns

·       Perform track start and backstroke start

·       Push-off and streamline to flags with a dolphin kick consistently

·       Acquire a basic understanding of the pace clock

 

Attendance: Recommend 4-5 times each week.

Training Offered: 5x week for 60 minutes (15 min land / 45 min water)

Swim Meets: Optional, but encouraged to attend team meets approximately once per month

Goals of the Discovery Squad

·       Develop consistent attendance habits 

·       Athletes know their attitude & effort affects how they swim and how others around them swim

·       Perform all turns and push-offs efficiently

·       Perform track start and backstroke start effectively

·       Athlete is motivated to listen to coaches and try to improve

·       Courteous & Respectful to other swimmers in pool

·       Develop stoke endurance and race strategy for all 4 competitive swimming strokes

o   Compete in 50, 100, & 200 freestyle with appropriate race technique   

o   Compete in 50 & 100 backstroke

o   Compete in 50 butterfly, and breaststroke with appropriate race technique.

·       Demonstrate understanding of the pace clock

  

Attendance: Strongly recommended 5 sessions per week

Training: 5x week, for 75 minutes (15-30 min land / 45-60 min water)

Swim Meets: Expected to attend team meets approximately once per month

Goals of the Exploration Squad

·       Complete USA-S IM Ready program in competition

·       Develop greater endurance and advanced stroke technique

·       Continue to develop effective racing strategy

·       Qualify for B-Champs, STX

 

Attendance:  Expected attendance is 5-6 times per week.

Training Offered: 6x week, for 75 minutes (15-30 min land / 45-60 min water)

Swim Meets: Attend team meets approximately one weekend per month and all team championship meets.

Goals of the Evolution Squad

·       Create great practice habits by showing up early and ready to learn

·       Complete USA-S IMX challenge in competition

·       Learn goal setting, other healthy mental performance skills, and nutrition 

·       Reduce swimmer's drag and increase swimmer’s efficiency

·       Increase fluidity during turns and starts

·       Mastery of pace clock during workout

·       Swimmer is courteous to other swimmers in the group

·       Qualify for STAGS & TAGS
