Why do you hold tryouts?

Tryouts help coaches assess swimmers so that they may be placed in the group best suited to their future development.

Coaches will be able to talk to you about the benefits of Wave's approach to swimming and coaching.  We're pretty sure you will agree that the small swimmer to coach ratios allows for a more personalized interaction.  While your swimmer is trying out, why not chat to some swim parents, you'll soon find out why we embrace our tag line; "a club, a team, a family".

Does my swimmer have to know how to swim all the strokes?

No, but to join the competitive team they should be able to swim 25 yards freestyle, 25 yards backstroke, and be able to use a kickboard.

How old do you have to be?

As a rule of thumb, competitive swimmers should be 6 years old.

What if my swimmer can't meet the standard/age requirements?

Don't worry talk to us, we will have programs for you.

What equipment do I need for a tryout?

Each swimmer must have their own cap, googles, and towel. You will be sent a reminder about this in the tryout confirmation email.

Is there a charge for the tryout?

No, this is a no obligation chance for an assessment and a chance for you to decide if you like what we have to offer.
