James Christie (Head Coach)
Coach James has been involved with swim instruction and coaching since 1982. He's worked with babies as young as two months old (his own babies) and recently taught an 86 year old woman to swim for the first time in her life. He's very passionate about water safety and moving efficiently through the water. A competitive swimmer since he was 4 years old, he's competed as an age group swimmer, was an All-American Swimmer in High School and swam for Eastern Michigan University where he held a Mid-American Conference record. He won a Gold and Silver medal at the World Masters Games in 2005 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He continues to compete as a long distance open water swimmer.
He's the proud father of a son who graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design, another son who is the captain of the Underwater Hockey Team at the University of Florida and a daughter who is an athletic scholarship swimmer at his alma mater, Eastern Michigan University, where she recently broke the Freshman record in the 100 yard freestyle.
