Nikki has been involved with swimming for 35 years. Nikki attended Logan High School where she set numerous records, was a State Champion, and earned a swimming scholarship to BYU. She swam for 4 years and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in English. While at BYU, Nikki married Spencer Walsh and together they have 4 kids. Before moving back to Logan, she was the Head Coach of Clearfield City Aquatic Team for 1.5 years. She moved back to Logan in 2009. In 2012, Nikki took over as the owner and head coach of the Cache Valley Marlins. Since then, the team has has seen much success on the State and National levels with swimmers competiting in Sectionals, Zones, Futures as well as the US Open and Junior Nationals. Nikki received the Senior Coach of the Year award for the state of Utah in September 2019. Nikki emphasizes in technique work, teaching leadership skills, watching kids grow as individuals and teaching the kids to have a “can do” attitude. She has high expectations and loves to watch swimmers achieve goals. She loves coaching and the relationships she has gained through the job. Kids are amazing and her favorite people!
Coach Marcus began coaching in 2007 with the Bronze team and has been a key part of the program ever since. Over the years, he expanded his role to include coaching the Gold and Platinum groups, where he continues to help swimmers grow in skill, confidence, and competitiveness.
In 2016, he became the head coach at Sky View High School and led the team to multiple state championships. His commitment to athlete development and team success has earned him five Coach of the Year awards, recognizing both his leadership and impact on the sport.
Coach Marcus is known for his strong focus on technique and his ability to help swimmers refine their strokes and become more efficient in the water. But more than anything, he values the relationships built through coaching and the opportunity to help athletes grow not just as swimmers, but as individuals.
Coach Bob and Becky have been married for 51 years and have three daughters and one son, swimmers all, and two granddaughters and eight grandsons. He has been competing and coaching for over 60 years with Becky as swim mom and coach's wife. Coach Bob is an Air Force veteran of 29 years coaching around the world at every duty assignment. He finished his competitive career swimming for Cascade Swim Club in Seattle, Washington under Hall of Fame Coach Bob Miller before entering active duty in 1972. Coach Bob started his coaching career volunteering for Highline Swim Club where he caught the bug for helping swimmers to achieve excellence. He has coached in Korea, for the Air Force Academy Falcons, Germany for the Hahn Seahawks, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa where he was privileged to coach the Department of Defense Mens and Womens team representing the United States at the First World Military Games, Rome, Italy in 1995. After retiring from active duty he coached for the Topeka Swim Association, Topeka, Kansas, enjoying success at YMCA Nationals, and USA Swimming Junior and Senior Nationals. He was recalled to active duty in 2001 serving at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma flying as a Mission Crew Commander on the E3A aircraft. While at Tinker, he coached for the Oklahoma Aquatics Alliance. Home is where the Air Force sends you and it was back to Germany at Ramstein Air Base and Head Coach for the Kaiserslautern Kingfish where in eleven years his team won eight European Forces Swim League Championships. He joined the Marlins in 2016 coaching Silver, Gold and Platinum groups and anywhere Nikki needs and loves everything about swimming and the Marlins. He is also in his 8th year coaching the Green Canyon Wolves. Throughout his career Coach Bob's coaching philosophy has always been, "Take care of personal improvement and the winning will take care of itself." Be Strong! Be Smart! Be Fast!
Allie has been involved in the
swimming community for 13 years, with 11 of those spent as part of
the Cache Valley Marlins. She swam competitively for CVM throughout
her age group years and in high school, where she developed a
strong love for the sport. After high school, Allie began coaching
with CVM and quickly found a passion for helping young swimmers
grow, not just in their technique and performance, but in
confidence and life skills. She enjoys seeing the lessons learned
in the pool carry over into other areas of her swimmers’
lives.
Allie is currently attending Utah State University, working toward
a degree in Landscape Architecture. Her goal is to one day design
outdoor recreation centers that bring communities together and
promote active lifestyles. She loves being part of a team that
builds each other up!
Blake began swimming at the age of 12 and competed through his senior year of high school. During his career, he trained with the Utah Valley Rays (UVR), Cottonwood Heights Aquatics Team (CHAT), Olympus Aquatics (OA), and Olympus High School. He competed in multiple State Championship meets for both club and high school swimming, as well as at Western Zones and Sectionals. Specializing in distance events, Blake swam the 200 Free, 500 Free, Mile, and 200/400 IM.
Blake’s coaching journey began under the mentorship of Tom Thourm, where he quickly developed a passion for teaching and inspiring young athletes. Throughout high school, he taught summer swim programs at Olympus Aquatics, provided introductory and technique-focused lessons at the Evergreen Swim and Tennis Club, and taught survival swim skills at Swim Kids. Later, Blake served as a USA Swimming Coach for Olympus Aquatics, assisting with the 10 & Under program.
With years of experience both in the water and on the pool deck, Blake is dedicated to helping swimmers develop strong technique, confidence, and a lifelong love for the sport. He values building connections with his athletes, encouraging hard work, and making swimming a fun and rewarding experience.
Megan has been a competitive swimmer for the past 16 years. She recently graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU), where she earned a swimming scholarship and competed on the university’s team for all four years. During her collegiate career, she scored at both the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) and Big 12 Conference Championships. Now based in Logan, Megan is pursuing a master’s degree in Fitness Promotion at Utah State University (USU). She has experience coaching swim teams from a young age and worked as an instructor at SwimLabs. Over the past two summers, she’s enjoyed coaching at BYU’s swim camps, and most recently, she helped lead the recreational swim team at the Provo Recreation Center. Megan understands the importance of technique and hard work required to compete at the national level. She emphasizes the importance of loving the sport and challenges each swimmer to be their best in and out of the water.
Kimberly Shreeve is a dedicated swimming coach with a rich background in both athletic and artistic disciplines. For 15 years, she supported her children as they competed in USA Swimming events, gaining firsthand experience in the competitive swimming arena. During this time, she also homeschooled her children. Previously, she ran a highly successful dance studio with 300 students, showcasing her ability to manage and inspire large groups while fostering a love for movement and the arts.
In addition to her dance background, Kimberly coached high school cheer teams in Southern California, further highlighting her versatility as a coach and mentor. Transitioning into swimming, she obtained certifications to coach both USA swim clubs and high school swimming teams. She coaches the Cache Valley Marlins swim club and has been part of the coaching staff at Mountain Crest and Green Canyon high schools. Her unique perspective, influenced by her extensive experience in dance and movement, allows her to emphasize grace, technique, and strength in the water. She has also led Dryland conditioning programs for the Cache Valley Marlins, focusing on out-of-pool exercises that enhance swimmers' performance.
Kimberly's multifaceted experience, ranging from directing a thriving dance studio to coaching swimming programs, enriches her approach to coaching, blending discipline, artistic insight, and a deep understanding of competitive swimming. Kimberly is also the mother of four, a soon to be a first-time grandmother, and a proud United States Navy mom.
Summer Sorensen was a competitive swimmer for 12 years, held the Utah High School state record in the butterfly, and has always loved being in the water. More than that, she's passionate about helping kids feel safe, confident, and excited to swim. She has worked as a swim instructor for the past year and a half and has taught private lessons for two years. Currently, she also coaches with the Cache Valley Marlins swim team.
Outside the pool, Summer enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family. She and her husband are expecting their first baby, a little girl, at the end of the summer and couldn't be more thrilled.
She looks forward to helping your child discover just how fun and rewarding swimming can be!
Hailey has been involved in swimming for more than 12 years growing up in Cache Valley. She went to Ridgeline High School and won multiple state metals in various events. She also swam with the UVU Swim Club in its inaugural year. She has taught public and private swim lessons, studying technique and helping athletes improve and do their best. She has been coaching with the Cache Valley Marlins Swim Team for almost two years now and enjoys sharing her passion of swimming as well as seeing improvements in the swimmers she coaches. She also loves getting to know the kids. Hailey is a senior at Utah State University, majoring in dietetics and is planning on getting a Masters Degree of Dietetics Administration. She is excited to use her degree to help swimmers with their nutrition and recovery. Outside of swimming, Hailey likes to be outside, paddle board, travel and be active. She loves being part of the Cache Valley Marlins!
Jalyn has been involved with Cache Valley Marlins for the past 16 years, starting as a swim mom with her oldest and becoming more involved as her next four kids competed on various levels with CVM. She offered to be the volunteer coordinator and has been organizing and running swim meets for the last 10 years. She has been the Administrative Assistant for a year and a half and enjoys helping the swim team run smoothly and achieve success. Her favorite part of her job is becoming acquainted with amazing parents, so many have become lifelong friends. Jalyn is lucky to be married to a very supportive husband and has five children who are all still involved with swimming in some form. Jalyn also has a real job as an Administrative Assistant for Cache Landmark Engineering. Her hobbies include playing the piano and organ, scrapbooking, golfing and snow skiing. She thoroughly enjoys working with the Cache Valley Marlins Swim Team!
