2022 Tualatin Hills Holiday Classic

21 GAC swimmers represented the team at one of the last swim
meets of the year - The 2022 Tualatin Hills Holiday Classic. Our
swimmers raced 118 times; 86 of those races were best times,
resulting in an improvement rate of 73%. Putting the team at
an impressive 80% improvement rate for the first five swim
meets of the short course season. Thank you all for making this
possible! 2023 is going to be a promising year for our club and
swimmers!

Alora Cook- Swam in 6 events and dropped time in the 50 and
100 Breastroke.


Owen Jacobs- Swam in 6 events, dropped time in all his events,
and made finals in 50 and 100 Breastroke.

Tenzin Kelsang- Swam in 2 events, dropped 1 minute in the 500
Freestyle, and made finals in the 200 Breastroke.


Faith Knoeppel- Swam in 4 events, dropped time in all 4 events,
and got a state qualifying time in the 50 Breastroke.


Frederick Kotyek- Swam in 6 events, got best times in all of his
events, and swam the 500 Freestyle for the first time where he
placed 14th overall.


Rafael Lavagnino- Swam in 4 events, got a best time in the 100
Freestyle, and made finals in the 200 Breastroke.


Ethan LeGrand- Swam in 4 events, got best times in all 4 of
them, and made finals in the 100 Backstroke in which he placed
7th overall.


Sam LeGrand- Swam in 4 events and dropped 5 seconds in the
100 Butterfly.


Lawrence Lee- Swam in 3 events and got very close to his best
times in all 3 races.


Chauncey Louie- Swam in 3 events, achieved a best time in the
100 Butterfly where he dropped 9 seconds, and another best
time in the 100 Breastroke where he dropped 8 seconds.


Elizabeth Mayes- Attended her very first swim meet. She swam
in 4 events and showed great technique and courage in each of
them.


Luna McMahon- Swam in 5 events, achieved 4 best times, and
dropped an impressive 8 seconds in the 100 Backstroke.

Caroline Oates- Swam in 6 events, achieved 3 best times,
dropped 7 seconds in the 100 Backstroke, and swam her first
100 Butterfly at the age of 9.


Kai Raimo- Swam in 4 events, achieved 4 best times, and placed
top 10 in all of his races.


Atali’I Seumalo- Swam in 3 events and made finals with a best
time in the 200 Butterfly.


Dae Varela-Moore- Swam in her very first meet. Dae raced in
the 50 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke, showing great
determination and courage.


Owen Yam- Swam in 3 events, achieved 3 best times, and made
finals for the 200 Breastroke and 100 Backstroke.


Andrew Zhang- Swam in 5 events, achieved 5 best times, and
dropped an astounding 19 seconds in the 100 Breaststroke.


Brian Zhang- Swam in 5 events and achieved best times in the
50 Freestyle, the 100 Freestyle, and the 100 Backstroke.


Katherine Zhang- Swam in 9 events and made finals in all 9 of
them. Katherine raced 18 times and achieved best times in all
her events. She broke 9 club records and 1 Oregon swimming
record twice (one in prelims, one in finals). Finally, Katherine
had 2 first-place finishes against 12-year-old swimmers while
she was still 10. We are so proud of you!


Winston Zhang- Swam in 9 events, made finals in all of his
events, and achieved 6 first places, 2-second places, and 1 thirdplace.

Winston achieved best times in 8 events and broke the
club record for the 100 Breastroke with a 1:09.15 and the 100
I.M. with a 1:02.35.
