2023 Coast Range Qualifier

Last weekend at Forest Grove Aquatics Center, 26 GACC swimmers competed at the Coast Range Qualifier swim meet against 7 other teams. This was our second to last swim meet for those hoping to qualify for short course Championships, and we are so excited to see those that qualified compete!

 

Together, our swimmers raced in 107 events, and 76 of them were best times, resulting in an 71% improvement rate for our team. We are so proud of our swimmers and the hard work they put into each practice; it truly shows in their performances at meets! As always, a big thank you to all the parents who support our swimmers. Your dedication to your swimmer(s) and our team is so appreciated.

 

Laine Brady – Swam in 2 individual events and achieved best times in the 100 Freestyle and 50 backstroke. Laine showed great determination in her events, resulting in a 5 second improvement in the 100 Freestyle.

 

Abigail Brunell – Swam in 2 individual events and achieved a best time in the 50 Freestyle. Abigail showed great courage and determination in each event. Well done!

 

Alora Cook – Swam in the 200 Backstroke and 200 Breaststroke, achieving best times in both events! Alora dropped an impressive 30 seconds in the 200 Breaststroke, resulting in a 3rd place overall and 24 seconds in the 200 Backstroke, resulting in a 3rd place overall. Well done, Alora!

 

Ella Goodwin – Swam in the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke, achieving best times in both events. Ella dropped an impressive 26 seconds in the 100 Free and got a 9 years old A time beeing ony 8 in the 100 Breast. Ella took home 1st place in both events, go Ella!

 

Gracey Goodwin – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in 4 of them. Gracey dropped an impressive 19 seconds in the 100 Freestyle, 3 seconds in the 100 Backstroke, 1 second in the 100 Breaststroke, and 0.20 in the 50 Free.

 

Haylee Hardin – Swam in 8 individual events and achieved best times in all of them. Haylee took home 2nd place in the 100 Butterfly, 4th in the 200 Individual Medley and 50 Butterfly, and 5th in the 200 Freestyle. Haylee’s most notable time improvements was her 7 second drop in the 100 Breaststroke, 6 second drop in the 200 Freestyle, and 5 second drop in the 100 Backstroke. Nice work Haylee!

 

Paige Harvey – Swam in the 100 Backstroke, 50 Breaststroke, and 50 Freestyle. Paige dropped an impressive 21 seconds in the 100 Backstroke and got her first 9 years old A time and dropped 2 seconds in the 50 Breaststroke. Paige took home 2nd place in the 100 Back, great job!

 

Owen Jacobs – Swam in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, and 50 Freestyle. Owen dropped an impressive 45 seconds in the 100 Back and 10 seconds in the 200 Breast. He also took home 1st place in the 100 Back and 200 breast and 3rd place in the 50 Free. Way to go, Owen!

 

Sophie Jacobs – Swam in the 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, and 100 Breaststroke and achieved best times in each event! Sophie dropped 5 seconds in the 100 Free and took home 4th place, dropped 2 seconds in the 200 Back and took home 4th, and dropped 0.42 in the 100 Breast and took home 1st. Nice job!

 

Faith Knoeppel – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in 5 events. Faith took home 1st place in the 200 Breaststroke with an impressive 27 second drop-in time and took home 4th place in the 50 Freestyle with a 1 second drop. Faith also notably dropped 4 seconds in the 100 Freestyle and 2 seconds in the 50 Butterfly. Nice job Faith!

 

Ethan LeGrand – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in 4 events.  Ethan took home 1st place in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, and 200 Backstroke. He placed 2nd in the 100 Freestyle, 4th in the 100 Breaststroke, and 6th in the 50 Breaststroke. Ethan dropped an impressive 6 seconds in the 200 back, 10 seconds in the 100 breast, and 7 second sin the 100 fly. Go Ethan!

 

Lawrence Lee – Swam in the 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and 50 Backstroke, achieving best times in each event! Lawrence dropped 0.98 in the 100 free, 5 seconds in the 100 breaststroke for 5th place, and 1 second in the 50 backstroke.

 

Lorena McCarty – Swam in the 100 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, and 50 Freestyle and achieved best times in each event. Lorena took home 1st place in the 100 back with an impressive 8 second drop, 3rd in the 100 fly with a 5 second drop, and 4th place in the 50 free with a 0.45 drop. Nice job!

 

Andrew Morris – Swam in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, and 50 Freestyle. Andrew dropped an impressive 10 seconds in the 200 Breaststroke for 5th place overall and 1 second in the 100 Backstroke. Nice job, Andrew!

 

Caroline Oates – Swam in the 200 Freestyle finishing with a time of 3:31.28 for 1st place overall! Go Caroline!

 

Travis Oates – Swam in 5 individual events and achieved best times in all of them.  Travis dropped 4 seconds in the 200 Freestyle and earned 1st place overall, dropped 12 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley for 2nd place overall, dropped 8 seconds in the 200 Breaststroke for 4th place overall, and took home 6th place in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Go Travis!

 

Chloe Parker – Swam in the 100 Backstroke and the 50 Freestyle and achieved best times in both! Chloe dropped an impressive 11 seconds in the 100 back and 1 second in the 50 free. Nice job Chloe!

 

Emily Parker – Swam in the 100 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, and 50 Freestyle. Emily dropped an impressive 27 seconds in the 100 Butterfly for 2nd place overall. Emily finished 4th in the 50 Freestyle and 6th in the 100 Backstroke. Well done!

 

Kai Raimo – Swam in the 50 Butterfly and the 50 Backstroke, achieving best times in both events. Kai took home 1st place in the 50 fly with an impressive 4 second drop-in time and 6th place in the 50 back.

 

Daniel Ren – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in 4 of his events. Daniel took home 3rd place in the 200 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke, and 50 Freestyle. He also took home 4th place in the 100 Freestyle and 6th place in the 100 Butterfly. Nice job!

 

Isabel Ren – Swam in 6 individual events with great determination and focus. Isabel took home 2nd place in the 200 Breaststroke and 5th place in the 200 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke. Nice Job Z!

 

Andrew Song – Swam in the 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and 50 Backstroke. Andrew dropped an impressive 5 seconds in the 100 Freestyle and 4 seconds in the 50 Backstroke. Go Andrew!

 

Andrew Zhang – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in 5 of his events. Andrew dropped an impressive 12 seconds in the 25 Butterfly and took home 3rd place overall, dropped 8 seconds in the 25 Breaststroke for a 4th place overall, and took home 6th place in the 50 Backstroke with a 3 second drop and in the 25 Backstroke with a 1 second drop. Nice job!

 

Brian Zhang – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in each of his events. Brian took home 4th place in the 50 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle with a 2 second drop in each event. He also took home 6th place in the 100 Breaststroke with a 2 second drop. Well done!

 

Eric Zhang – Swam in 6 individual events and achieved best times in 4 of his events. Andrew took home 4th place in the 100 Backstroke and 50 Backstroke, took home 5th place in the 100 Freestyle and 200 Breaststroke, and 6th place in the 50 Butterfly. Nice job!

 

Katherine Zhang – Swam in the 200 Backstroke, 200 Butterfly, and 200 Breaststroke, achieving best times in the 200 back and 200 breast. Katherine took home 1st place in each of her events and dropped an impressive 5 seconds in the 200 breast and 3 seconds in the 200 back. Go Katherine!
