Assistant Coach

The Vashon Seals Swim Team is looking for a new assistant coach! The team welcomes applicants who would like to support our head coach and provide individualized instruction for our amazing swimmers. This is a part time position working with multiple age levels and varied swimming abilities and we invite those interested in learning more to read below.

Availability

Timeline: Permanent Position

Anticipated Start Date: February 1, 2024

Application Closing Date: December 31, 2023

Hours: Between 8-10 per week (set by scheduled practices which are generally 3-6pm three times per week)

Rate: $19.50/hr, $100/meet

Responsibilities

• Provide “on deck” supervision and coaching for beginners (“pups”) through our most competitive groups.

• Receive coaching instruction and guidance from the head coach.

• Attend swim meets as requested by the head coach. Time during meets will be compensated separately from practice time.

• Participate in community and team-building events (e.g. Strawberry Festival, fundraising events, annual Swim-a-Thon, etc.).

Safety

• Maintain certifications required by USA Swimming:

  • Safety Training for Coaches

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • First Aid

• Maintain certifications required by the Vashon Parks District

• Complete SafeSport training as required by the Vashon Seals Swim Team

• Complete a background check

Communication

• Our ideal candidate will feel comfortable communicating directly with our swimmers, their families and guardians, our head coach, other club coaches, and others involved with the team.
