Gators Attend Lucky Duck Invite

The Green County YMCA Gators swim team attended the Lucky Duck Invitation on Sunday, November 19th. The meet was hosted by the Rockford Stingrays and held at the Swedish American Riverfront YMCA in Rockford, Illinois. The Gators were one of nine teams which attended the meet, had six swimmers out of 284 total athletes and competed in eighteen events. 

Olive Akins (8 yrs) and Kinsley Huffman (8 yrs) debuted in the morning 10 & Under session. Olive Akins competed in the 50 yard Butterfly, 50 yard Backstroke, 50 yard Freestyle as well as the 11 & Older 50 yard Freestyle. Kinsley Huffman swam the 25 yard Butterfly, 50 yard Backstroke, 25 yard Breast and the 50 yard Free. 

The 11 & Older group consisted of Barrett Berg (11 yrs), Emma Gowdy (13 yrs), Nathan Josephs (13yrs) and Brynleigh Wellman (11yrs). They hit the pool with a big splash swimming personal bests in all their events. Brynleigh swam 50 yard Backstroke and placed 15th in the 50 yard Freestyle. Emma Gowdy swam the 50 yard Breaststroke and finished 7th place earning 2 points. Barrett Berg finished 8th place in both the 50 yard Breaststroke and the 50 yard Freestyle also earning 2 points. Nathan Josephs finished 8th in the 50 yard Butterfly, 7th in the 50 yard Breaststroke and 5th place in the 50 yard Backstroke earning 7 points. 

The next meets will be an intersquad meet, December 8th held at the Green County Family YMCA and a conference meet hosted by the Lake Geneva Ducks on December 10th.
