Gators travel to Beaver Dam for the Winer Tri Meet
The Green County YMCA Gators swim team had 17 swimmers travel to the Dodge County YMCA in Beaver Dam to participate in the Winter Tri meet against the DCY Sea Dragons and the Portage Piranhas on Sunday, January 21st, 2024. The Sea Dragons placed first overall with 2144 points, the Piranhas taking second place with 1424 points and the Gators third with a score of 736.
Olivia Hustand (8) made her first Gator appearance with two fifth place finishes in the Girls 7-8 25 Free (25.21) and 25 Back (28.39Y).
While the Gators were outnumbered by both teams (DCY 50, Piranhas 30) the swimmers had a solid performance taking first in several events. Lauren Zenter (14) took first place in all three of her individual events Girls 13 & Over 50 Free (28.2Y), 100 Free (1:08.08Y) and the 100 IM (1:20.38Y). Olive Akins (9) also placed first in all three of her individual events Girls 7-8 50 Free with a times of (55.15Y), 50 Breast (1:04.63Y) and 50 Fly (1:15.42Y). Both swimmers earned 60 points.
Other first place winners included Silas Berg (6) taking first in both the Boys 6 & Under 25 Free (23.49Y) and the 25 Breast (33.87Y). Barrett Berg (12) took first place in the Boys 11-12 50 Free with a time of (32.14Y) and 100 Free with a time of (1:14.33Y). Lauren Kosmosky (10) took first in the Girls 9-10 50 Backstroke with a PR time of (44.85Y). Finnley Danniles (8) also took first place in 25 Fly (Girls 7-8) with a PR of (25.02Y).
Additional strong performers for the Gators included Emma Gowdy (13) taking second place in the Girls 13 & Over 100 Back (1:27.82Y) and 100 Breast (1:31.99). Remington Zilliox (10) also took two second place finishes in the Boys 9-10 50 Free (38.83Y) and the 50 Back (53.17Y). Ellie Berg (10) finished third place in the Girls 9-10 100 IM (1:42.25Y), Nolan Berg (8) placed second in the Boys 7-8 25 Fly (34.57) and third in the Boys 7-8 25 Free with a PR of (22.55). Andrew Kosmosky (15) took third in the Boys 13 & Over 100 Breast (1:29.25). Aiden Buol (14) took three fourth place finishes in the Boys 13 & Over 50 Free (30.22Y), 100 Back (1:27.27Y) and 100 Breast (1:32.77Y). Stella Rolli with two fourth place finishes in the Girls 9-10 50 Breast (54.15Y) and 100 IM (1:50.78Y).
The team also took 6th place in the Mixed 200 Yard Medley Relay 1) Charlotte Stuessy (10), 2) Barrett Berg (12), 3) Lauren Zentner (14), 4) Aiden Buol (14) with a time of 2:46.52
8 & Under 100 Yard Freestyle Relay 1) Finnley Danniels (8), 2) Hazel Christen (7), 3) Olivia Hustand (8), 4) Silas Berg (6) finished second with a time of 1:42.87
Mixed 200 Yard Freestyle Relay 1) Barrett Berg (12), 2) Andrew Kosmosky (15), 3) Remington Zilliox (10), 4) Aiden Buol (14) finished fourth with a time of 2:13.70
Mixed 200 Yard Freestyle Relay 1) Lauren Zentner (14), 2) Ellie Berg (10), 3) Lauren Kosmosky (10), 4) Emma Gowdy (13) finished sixth with a time of 2:19.84
