Busy Weekend for the Gators at Dubuque Invite

The Gators Swim Team had a busy weekend traveling to Dubuque Iowa for an invitational with Dubuque, Maquoketa and YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley (IMV) on Saturday, January 27th.

The Gators had 19 swimmers attend on Saturday with a combined team score of  728.50. The women’s team scored 422.5 points and the men’s team scored 306.  Top scorers for the team included Barrett Berg with 54, Nolan Berg 51, Emma Gowdy and Andrew Kosmosky each with 50, Annika Folk 48.5, Lauren Kosmosky 48, Ellie Berg 47 and Remington Zilliox 43. 

Penelope Bailey (8) traveled to Dubuque for her first meet taking 6th place in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Breaststroke (43.60), 7th place in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Fly (39.90) and 20th in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Freestyle (28.56) and scored 12 points for the team. 

The Girls 9-10 200 Yard Medley Relay took 3rd place with a time of (3:15.86). 1) Charlotte Stuessy(10), Elle Van Dyke (9), Ellie Berg (10) and Stella Rolli (10).

8 & Under Swimmers had a strong showing at Dubuque with Silas Berg (6) 1st place Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Fly (22.59) and 2nd in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Free (20.35). Everett Ramirez (7) took 1st place in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Back (22.99), and 4th in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Free (21.53). Nolan Berg (8) took 1st in the Mixed 10& Under 100 IM (2:16.30), 3rd in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Freestyle (21.18) and the Mixed 8& Under 25 Yard Fly (30.78). Finnley Daniels (8) placed 3rd in the Mixed 8&Under 25 Yard Fly (27.03)

9-10 Age group Olive Akins (9) taking 7th place in the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Breaststroke (1:02.71). Ellie Berg (10) 2nd in the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Fly (43.22) and Mixed 10 & Under 100 Yard IM (1:38.86) and 3rd in the 9-10 50 Yard Freestyle (37.31). Lauren Kosmosky (10) took 1st place in the Mixed 9-10 50 Yard Breaststroke (50.71), 3rd in the Mixed 10&Under 100 Yard IM (1:40.48) and 6th in the Mixed 9-10 50 Yard Freestyle (37.83). Stella Rolli (10)  taking 4th in the Mixed 10&Under 100 Yard IM (1:46.98). Elle Van Dyke (9) placed 1st in the Mixed 9-12 100 Yard Breaststroke (2:04.38), 4th in the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Breaststroke (1:00.79). Remington Zilliox (10) took 3rd place in both the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Backstroke (53.82) and Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Fly (56.10).

11 & Over age group places included Barrett Berg (12)  placed 1st in the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Breast (45.68), and 2nd in both the 11-12 50 Yard Free (31.52) and 11-12 100 Yard Free (1:13.25). Aiden Buol (14) took 1st place in the Mixed 9-12 100 Yard Breast (1:35.27) and 3rd place in the Mixed 13-21 100 Yard Free (1:07.66). Maggie Donohue (12) 4th place in the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Breast (49.16). Annika Folk (13) 1st place Mixed 13-21 100 Yard Breast (1:34.87), 3rd in the Mixed 13-21 50 Yard Free (33.98) and 6th in the Mixed 13-21 50 Fly (42.34). Emma Gowdy (13)  took 2nd place in both the Mixed 13-21 50 Yard Breast (40.37) and the 100 Yard Breast (1:29.65) and 3rd in the Mixed 13-21 50 Yard Back (41.19). Andrew Kosmosky (14) 1st Mixed 13-21 50 Yard Free (29.91) and 4th in both the Mixed 13-21 50 Yard Fly (37.08) and 50 Yard Breast (40.59). Anneliese Ramirez (11) 5th in the Mixed 9-12 50 Yard Breast (52.17).
