Coaches and Directors
Coach Connor began competitively swimming when he was 4 and continued to do so through college at UW-Green Bay. Connor began coaching as an assistant with HSSB in June 2014 and was named a head coach in March 2016.
Connor's coaching philosophy can be summarized simply as, "attitude determines success." Connor believes that with the right attitude toward your goals, they become much more achievable. This is applied heavily throughout HSSB's training and can be used in other parts of life as well. On top of this, Connor believes and always tells his swimmers the most important thing they can do is try their hardest and have fun.
Connor enjoys working with all ages of swimmers. The best part of coaching for Connor is seeing each swimmer achieve their own version of a personal victory, whether it is dropping time in a 25 freestyle, qaulifying for a national level meet, and everything in between.
Coach Emily started as a swimmer for HSSB at the age of 7 and swam with the team for 11 years. From 2011-2014, Emily was also a part of the Bay Port High School varsity team. Her swimming specialties are IM and butterfly. After her senior year of high school, she decided to focus on coaching and her academic career. Emily joined the HSSB coaching staff in 2014. She is also a certified lifeguard and Wisconsin Swim Instructor and works at the Howard-Suamico Community Pool in both those areas.
Emily loves working with kids, and is attending St. Norbert College to study elementary education. Her vision for the team is to get more people involved, excited about swimming, and find joy in it. This sport has changed Emily’s life for the better and she hopes to bring this experience to others.
Coach Roshel started her swimming career at age 9 in Washington state and finished her career at UWGB. After graduation, she started to coach swimming. Over the last 25 years she has coached numerous swimmers who went on to swim in college including her oldest, who is a senior at UWSP. Her whole family is involved in swimming, her husband, Jim, also coaches swimming and their other 4 children swim for HSSB. Her goal is that all swimmers will continue in the sport of swimming through college swimming or by coaching.
Coach Tracy started swimming for PASC in 8th grade. She also swam varsity for 4 years for Pulaski High School. While she attended UWGB for her bachelors in Mathematics and Education, she started coaching. She spent 10 years coaching area clubs and the Bay Port Girls swim team before taking time off to be with her 3 children. Now her oldest child has joined HSSB and she is excited to be back on deck.
Coach Amy started swimming for the Marinette/Menominee Stingrays at the age of 8, and swam through her college years at UW-Oshkosh. Once her career as a middle school math teacher was underway, Coach Amy coached on various local swim teams to keep her swimming passion alive. Unfortunately, coaching was overtaken by her parenting role. As her two daughters began to grow and show signs of the same passion for swimming that she possesses, her eagerness to get back on deck grew.
She couldn't be more excited to share her experience and passion with the entire team.
