Day 1 Report from YMCA Nationals
Big first night for the OSHY team.
OSHY has a new National Champion. Kiersten swam away from the field in the 1000 free tonight to win her first YMCA National Championship. She swam 10:06.91 to win by over 4 seconds. Kiersten broke her own team record by over 7 seconds
There were no shortages of highlights in the other events tonight as well.
- Emma, Samara, Addy, and Rylie dropped over a second and a half in the 200 medley relay going 1:47 and moving up from 31st seed to place 21st.
- Drew, Tanner, Sebastian, and Braden set the team record in their 200 medley relay, going 1:35.50, placing 30th
- Etta, Addy, Elise and Kiersten placed 7th in the 800 free relay, our first top 8 relay at Short Course Nationals in 15 years. Their time of 7:32.14 set a new OSHY team record as well.
Tomorrow’s events are the 200 back (Samara, Emma), 100 fly (Elise, Addy, Sebastian), and 200 breast (Tanner, Drew)
