A lifelong resident of the Wausau area, Abby is deeply committed to developing not just strong swimmers, but strong individuals. Under her leadership, the Woodson Y swimming program continues to grow as one of the region’s finest opportunities for youth development through sport.

Mike McQueen
WYNS Swim Team Head Coach
Originally from Iowa, I spent my early years there before moving to the Twin Cities, where I was a three-sport athlete throughout high school. I went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, earning a degree in Post-Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in History.
For over 20 years, I’ve been a competitive triathlete and duathlete, racing everything from Sprint to Ironman distances. More recently, I’ve shifted my focus to endurance mountain bike racing, competing in events up to 100 miles.
I’ve been coaching with WYNS for six years and have transitioned from assistant to Abby into my current role as Head Competitive Swim Coach, where I primarily lead the senior-level groups. I bring a diverse background to the team, including experience from my private endurance coaching business, dryland training expertise, and a deep well of knowledge gained from working with numerous high-level coaches within the WYNS program.
Outside of coaching, I’m a proud parent of two swimmers, Scout and Willem, who are both active members of the WYNS program.
