About Us
Our competitive Swim Team provides a caring environment to develop the sport of swimming. Our team is a YMCA and a USA sanctioned year-round swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.
Mission
To provide opportunities for every member to reach his/her potential at each stage of their development; giving swimmers of all ages the opportunity to improve swimming skills while building friendships and healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is to teach athletes life lessons about hard work, dedication, and dealing honorably with success and failure—because you will probably experience both at some point. Success is always going to be different for each individual. The common thread in TEAM effort is doing it together, supporting each other, and giving your best to create a positive environment.
We believe in finishing things through and completing goals while learning to understand, appreciate, and eventually love the process—so these principles can be applied in life. Athletes are expected to give their best, set goals to achieve, yet take it one day at a time.
We also believe that a swimmer-coach relationship is an equal partnership. Our coaching philosophy is to encourage athletes to work with us, not for us. We think this kind of partnership helps each of us reach the best possible versions of ourselves—as swimmers, coaches, and people.
We do put an emphasis on being competitive. We think there’s a lot of value in applying the will to win and the will to succeed in our lives. If we are internally motivated and striving to be the best possible version of ourselves, then we’re going to be successful.
Last, but absolutely not least, we want athletes to ENJOY the sport of swimming.
Practice
Emphasis is on instructing swimmers in proper competitive techniques through a balanced approach to skill instruction, endurance/sprint training, and race preparation. Swimmers set goals and learn and train for those goals.
Meets
Although not required, athletes are encouraged to compete at meets as a way to showcase their training, discover their potential, encourage their teammates, and celebrate achievement. Competitions are offered at the local, state, and national levels.
