Registration Fees:
USA Swimming: You will have to register your swimmer with USA Swimming. All swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming to swim on the swim team. There are two levels:
Premium Membership is for all ages, allows your swimmer to compete in unlimited meets, renewable every year and $80 fee.
Flex Membership is for swimmers aged 12 & under, allows your swimmer to compete in 2 sanctioned meets a year and has a fee of $30.
Booster Club:
Parents automatically become members of the Booster Club when their swimmer joins
SWAS. Our Booster Club covers the cost of several aspects of our team. They cover coach’s
travel expenses to meets, banquet awards, parties for swimmers, equipment…the list goes on. Monthly pool dues go to a separate account. Your dues are allotted only for coach’s salaries and pool rental. EVERYTHING else must be covered by the Booster Club. Therefore, we require that each family pay a registration fee of $75 to the Booster Club each year. Registration will take place online every year in September. No matter when your swimmer joins SWAS, you must pay the $75 when you join and then again in September. SWAS will provide a Swim-A-Thon fundraiser once a year (every August) to help with the contribution. This is our ONLY fundraiser! You may choose to opt out of fundraising and donate $125 directly to SWAS. Parents will also participate in our Parent Volunteer Program. See PVP handout for more information.
Team Unify and our Website:
Our website at https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/wtswas/page/home is our main information center. We also have the bulletin board in the viewing area and our team Facebook page. Please refer to the website and/or Facebook page for schedule changes, meet and practice schedules, time standards, meet information and much more. Please feel free to use the Remind app for updates as well. Search for SWAS Swim Team in the Remind app to be added to the group. Our team uses a team management system called Team Unify. It makes everyone’s life so much easier! Please be sure to log on to our website as soon as you receive your login e-mail. Be sure to download Sports Engine (looks like the NBC logo) for your smart phone or iPad. The login and password for the app is the SAME as your login information for our website.
Monthly Dues:
Monthly dues are paid through the team website. When you set up your account, you may choose the option to auto pay each month, or you will need to log in every month to manually pay your dues. These dues MUST be paid by on, and no later than the 5th of each month or you will be charged a $20 late fee. NO checks or cash will be accepted for monthly pool dues!
Meet Requirements:
Swimmers are encouraged to attend all home (Pete Ragus) meets. If your swimmer does not qualify for a certain home (Pete Ragus) meet, your attendance is still appreciated to help with the running of the meet and to support their teammates.
**All Championship meets that a swimmer qualifies for are highly recommended! This is what they have been working so hard for, and to not take advantage of these meets would be a waste.**
Parent Requirements:
Lubbock Swim Club hosts several meets each year at their home pool Pete Ragus. These meets are run by parent volunteers. We will ALWAYS need to provide at least 2-3 timers for these meets. Please refer to the PVP handout for more information.
Meet Attire:
Swimmers can wear any one piece (girls) or jammers/Speedos (boys) type suit for a swim meet. If you are interested in purchasing a team suit, we have a team store at https://teams.tyr.com. Once here, you will need to ‘Create An Account.’ Our access code is 19723. Meet suits should be very snug. If a swimmer wears a swim cap in a meet, it MUST be a SWAS team cap. There are silver team caps available at the front desk or in the dive shop. You receive a 20% discount as a member of the swim team in the dive shop or at the front desk. It helps the coaches locate our swimmers easily. We place a personalized cap order every September. These usually run $40 for 2 personalized caps. Anything you are wanting with the SWAS logo is available in our team store through TYR. www.swimoutlet.com is a great place to buy competitive swim gear.
Team Breaks:
SWAS takes a 7-10 day break at the end of each season. Short Course break usually falls in March (Spring Break) and the Long Course break in August (week before school starts.) We also take short breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Dues remain the same for each month.
