Private Donors

LSC would like to thank the following private donors for their generous contributions to the Laramie Swim Club.  With these donations we have been able to practice our philosophy that finances should never be a reason a child is unable to swim.

Hannah Marie Nerone (9/13/90-04/06/22) Memorial Scholarship

Hannah was a 2009 LHS Graduate, she received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Wyoming in 2015 and received a dual master's degree from the University of Utah in Education Leadership and Policy and Public Administration in 2019.

In December 2020, Hannah was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma.  Hannah was initially treated in Salt Lake City, then sought treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.  During her treatments, Hannah worked for the ACLU of Utah.

Hannah returned to Laramie in July 2021 following her second major brain surgery and cancer progression.  While living with her parents Craig Nerone and Birdie Boltz, Hannah began having strength, balance and vision issues.  Former LHS Coach Tom Hudson was approached in hopes of getting Hannah in the pool as the Laramie Recreation Center pool was closed.  Hannah's wish was granted and Hannah became a Laramie Swim Club member.

Hannah was able to swim up until 2 weeks prior to her death.  With a lot of hard work and the support of an aqua belt, Hannah worked up to swimming a mile breaststroke on December 1, 2021.

With sincere gratitude from Hannah, Craig and Birdie, a gift of $4,000 was donated from the Hannah Nerone Memorial Fund to be utilized for scholarships.
