The North San Diego YMCA Swim Team is comprised of all levels of swimmers, from novice to advanced.  The NSDY swim team is a USA swimming team that practices year round and competes locally with other USA and YMCA teams in San Diego. 

NSDY strives to build endurance, self-confidence, and discipline through an extensive program of dry-land and water based training under the tutelage of knowledgeable and proven coaches.

 

We offer Swim Team continuously 12 months a year. The Winter Season runs Sept. 1st through March 31st; summer season runs April 1st through August 30th. The Winter Season schedule will be published August 1st, and the Summer Season schedule will be published March 1st

 

In order to join swim team, you must complete a swim evaluation with the Head Swim Coach, Joni Paulsen. You can schedule one with her by emailing [email protected].

 

Bronze:

1 hour sessions

Monday-Friday from 5:00-6:00 PM

Option of attending 2x or 3x a week

 

Recommended to have:

  • 4 legal strokes
  • 50 freestyle, 25 backstroke, 25 breaststroke, 25 butterfly

Equipment needed:

  • Kick-board
  • Pull Buoy

 

Silver:

1 hour  sessions

Monday-Friday from 6:00-7:00 PM

Option of attending 2x, 3x, or 4x a week

 

Recommended to have:

  • 4 legal strokes
  • 3 x 100 @ 2:00 freestyle

Equipment needed:

  • Kick-board
  • Fins
  • Pull buoy

 

Gold:

1 hour and 30 minute sessions

Monday and Friday from 7:00-8:30 PM

7:00-7:30 Dry land  7:30-8:30 Swim

 

Recommended to have:

  • 4 legal strokes
  • 10 x 100 @1:45 Freestyle

Equipment needed

  • Kickboard
  • Fins
  • Pull buoy
  • Dry land Apparel

Platinum:

2 hour sessions

Monday and Friday from 6:30-8:30 PM

6:30-7:00 Dry land  7:00-8:30 Swim

  • 4 legal strokes
  • 10 x 100 @1:25 Freestyle
