At the Y, we promote spirited competition with a multi-tiered structure designed to accommodate varying abilities and commitments. The Tiger Sharks swim team helps your swimmer take their skills to the next level. We work on building a strong foundation of swimming skills with continuous work on endurance and speed. We focus on the proper technique for the competitive strokes; freestyle, backstroke, butterfly flip turns, open turns, and starts. Prerequisite member of the Granite YMCA (any branch)
White 1 5 - 9 years
Knowledge of the four competitive strokes, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke; ability to swim 50 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and 25 yards of butterfly; two times per week for 45 minutes,
Tue & Thu 4:15 – 5:00 pm
White 2 8+ years
Knowledge of the four competitive strokes, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke; ability to swim 50 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and 25 yards of butterfly; three times per week for 60 minutes.
Tue, Thu & Fri 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Yellow 9+ years
Knowledge of the four competitive strokes, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke; ability to swim 100 yards of freestyle and backstroke; 50 yards of breaststroke and butterfly; three times per week for 90 minutes and a total of four hours per week. Increased pool time and will continue to build a strong foundation of core techniques while building endurance.

Black 10+ years
Prerequisite is Yellow Group or have swim coach’s approval.
This group will continue to work on stroke technique and building endurance for greater success in swimming longer distances. Swimmers must be able to swim a 90 minute practice and a total of 5.5 hours per week. Swimmers are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to each practice to stretch.
