On February 25th to 2th, 23 Gators went to the Vancouver Coastal Divisional Championships. After three long days of preliminary and finals sessions, the swimmers brought back some very impressive results: we got 1185 points, ranked 6th place amount 14 swim teams; 10 GOLD, 8 SILVER, 8 BONZE and many ribbons were earned, as well as some new provincial events qualified. By Agatha Leung On February 5th and 6th, 30 Gators swimmers attended LMR Champs hosted at Walnut Grove Community Center. For many swimmers, it was their first time swimming at a championship level swim meet, and for the rest, they were back and ready to show off their hard work. We got an update from the Vancouver Board of Park and Recreation regarding the PHO order adjustments on club and organization use. We are providing programs solely for 21 years and under swimmers. Therefore, swimmers are not required to provide proof of vaccination anymore when attending club practices. However, if swimmers, 12+ years of age, wants to swim or use the hottub after practice or access the pool during the public time, they still have to provide the POV.
On December 17-19, 2021, 15 swimmers from the Elite group attended the Richmond Rapids FAST MEET at Watermannia. There were near 650 swimmers from 23 swim teams who participated in this meet. It was the last swim meet in 2021, and our swimmers did a fantastic job. We have 5 new provincial qualified events, 4 new Divisional qualified events and 45 personal best times! Way to go, Gators! By Agatha Leung On December 5th, Gators attended the DSSC Distance LMR. For many of our attending swimmers, it was their first time swimming long distance events. Although such long distances may be nerve-racking, our swimmers did an amazing job by receiving goal times and several personal best times with 1 new divisional event qualified. By Kyle Cheng On November 13/14, Gators co-hosted SFU/Gators LMR at SFU. This was the second meet of the season and our swimmers were much more prepared and ready for this meet. Out of 241 events swam by our swimmers that weekend, a whopping 205 events were personal best times with 1 new provincial event qualified and 18 new divisional events qualified.
