Sol Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Southwestern College to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Swimmers who are currently registered with USA Swimming can chose to practice with the team for up to 3 days. Please send us an email request for more information at [email protected].

All swimmers who join the team are required to join USA Swimming. The annual registration fee for the San Diego Imperial LSC is $85 and will be valid through December 31, 2025. If you are transfering teams and have a current USA Swimming registration, the transfer fee is $10. 

 Bronze Group 

This group is comprised of novice swimmers. Emphasis is placed on developing the fundamentals of the four competitive strokes. The practices combine in the water and dry land drills, games, and exercises. This allows for swimmers to learn total body coordination to help their stroke mechanics. The practices are geared to create an enjoyable atmosphere for instruction.  Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend one meet per month.


Workout Days/Times: Monday - Thursday: 

  • Practice from 4:00-5:00pm

Required equipment: kickboard, swim fins (not snorkel or body surf style), and a training suit

Bronze Fees: $135/month

 

 Silver Group 

The focus of this group is to continue the development of stroke mechanics and competitive rules with a training increase.  This group introduces mental training, team building, and the use of video. Success of each individual swimmer is based on an increased commitment level in attendance and practice effort. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend 1-2 meets per month.

  • Practice from 5:00-6:30pm

Required equipment: kickboard, swim fins (not snorkel or body surf style), pull buoy and a training suit

Silver Fees: $145/month

 

 Gold Group 

The focus of this group is to continue the progression of stroke mechanics with an increased emphasis on training. This group continues dry land exercises, but increases time spent in water.  These swimmers are striving to maximize their age group abilities.  Swimmers are also introduced to advanced team building and mental and physical training concepts. Goal setting and race strategies are also developed in this group. Workouts are designed to improve endurance, speed and stroke technique.  Swimmers are expected to attend 2 meets per months, unless currently competing in High School water polo or swimming.

Required equipment: kickboard, swim fins (not snorkel or body surf style), pull buoy, paddles, snorkel and a training suit

Fees: $155/month
 

 Senior Development Group 

This group is comprised of novice to intermediate swimmers ages 13 and up. Emphasis is placed on developing the fundamentals of the four competitive strokes to building endurance. The practices combine in the water and dry land drills and exercises. This allows for swimmers to learn total body coordination to help their stroke mechanics. The practices are geared to create an enjoyable atmosphere for instruction for our older swimmers wanting to join the sport or prepare for high school swim.  Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend meets.

  • Practice from 6:00-7:45pm

Required equipment: kickboard, swim fins (not snorkel or body surf style), pull buoy, paddles, snorkel and a training suit.

Fees: $145/month

 Senior  Group 

The Senior training program is centered around a highly specialized physical conditioning program and includes mental and race preparation. Weekly training will consist of 5 to 7 water sessions that will utilize specific technical work individualized to the swimmer, 3 to 5 strength & conditioning sessions, regular classroom sessions, and daily flexibility and core body exercises. The training program will include a uniform aerobic base, specialized stroke, and distance training. 

Swimmers in the Senior program will be exposed to the pressures associated with elite level swimming and will experience the benefit of competitions which will allow them to reach the highest level in competitive swimming. Due to level at which these swimmers are training, an attendance minimum is required and enforced to participate in this group. 


Dryland Training: Monday-Thursday TBD with 2 days focused on strength development and 2 focused on core and movement development

Additional mornings and Saturdays scheduled based on training schedule
