News Splash October 19

CAJ President

Good Morning CAJ Parents,

Coach Andrew’s Corner

We had 19 swimmers compete this past Saturday (10/15) at the Bill Fisher Classic meet in Redding. Thank you to everyone for coming and for making it such an enjoyable meet. An extra big thank you to all our parents that volunteered, either by timing or officiating. The meet couldn’t have happened without you, and I know I’m not the only one who appreciated your help. Coach Melia, Ava, and I saw many fast swims and quite a few best times. We watch your swimmers work hard in practice, so it is always nice getting to see their hard work pay off at a swim meet.

There is still a little over a week left to sign up for the RAD Trials and Finals meet taking place in Redding Saturday 11/5/22-Sunday 11/6/22. Signups close Thursday 10/27/22 at 11:59pm. Going to many different meets and racing often are great ways to enhance your swimmer’s experience with the sport. Racing at meets helps swimmers get better at racing, while also creating the opportunity for fun and unique memories. I still remember going up to this same meet when I was an age group swimmer.

The WAC Cranberry Classic is now open. This meet takes place Friday 11/18/22-Sunday 11/20/22, and sign ups close Thursday 11/10/22 or until it fills up. If you think you might go to this meet, then I suggest you sign up right away. We had some families that were unable to go to the Spooktacular meet because it filled up quickly. It is okay if you can only go to some of the days, getting some meet experience is better than getting no meet experience. Please feel free to ask our coaching staff any questions you may have about what your swimmer should swim.

If your swimmer is not USA Swimming registered yet, please do so as soon as you can. There is a link to do so in the “USA SWIM REGISTRATION” section of this news splash.

Be on the lookout for potential practice time changes starting in November. Our board president Ali and I have a meeting with In Motion this Friday where, amongst other things, we are going to try and get more pool time. With our high school swimmers coming back next month and depending on the results of our meeting with In Motion it may become necessary for our current practice schedule to change. If we make any changes to the practice times, I will announce them in next week’s news splash (10/26) at the latest.

I am excited to announce that our next team dinner will take place Wednesday 11/9/22 at 6:00pm. We will be going to Round Table again, and I heard that they will have more staff working this time so our food will come out faster. At the team dinner we will talk about our plans for the next couple of months. We will also announce the winners for most improved swimmer from each group, best race from each group, best sportsmanship from each group, and the swimmer of the month from the whole team. It was a blast last time, come join us and let’s have another fun night!

SWIMMER ACCOUNT REMINDER:  All swimmer fees are due on the 1st day of each month and are considered late if not received by the 10th. A $10 late fee will be assessed for late payments. Notice of intent to discontinue swimming must be provided to the Chico AquaJets in writing by the 15th of the month before the date of inactivity to cancel monthly fees. Written notice should be provided through the "Contact Us'' button on the CAJ website. Verbal notice to coaches is not sufficient. Any hanging balances left will be billed and payment will be required before any re-registration.

  • BE ADVISED: if you discontinue your membership, the $65 registration fee will be reassessed upon re-registration.

  • CAJ WEBSITE: All members must double-check your Team Unify member account to ensure that your e-mail is correct and verified. We also need you to verify your SMS number, and make sure you use dashes. This will ensure you receive ALL of our communications.

  • REMINDER FROM IN MOTION: If families discontinue their In Motion gym membership it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify In Motion that the swimmer is remaining an Aquajet swimmer. We’d also appreciate notification to the team through the “contact us” button so that our bookkeeper and membership coordinators are aware of your IMF membership status. This will assist in smooth entry to the club as well as accurate billing information for CAJ. Thanks!
