News Splash November 16
Good Morning CAJ Parents,
Coach Andrew’s Corner
We are canceling practice for all groups next week Wednesday through Friday (11/23-11/25). We hope you enjoy your time off and stay safe during any traveling that you do.
Another excellent team dinner is in the books. Thank you to everyone for coming and thank you to our wonderful parents that organized the bake sale. We had a lot of team awards given out, congratulations to each swimmer that earned one. The swimmers that earned the Most Improved Swimmer of their group are Sadie Ramirez (minijet silver), Angelica Wilkin-Den (minijet blue), Michelle Fumasi (white group), Dominic Lloyd (navy group), Jett Young (pre-seniors), and Celio Clavey-Perras (seniors). Each group has had one swimmer earn a Best Race of October award. Those swimmers are Zac Nunez (minijet silver), Cameron Barry (minijet blue), Ella Slem (white group), Maia Green (navy group), Felix Nuester (pre-seniors), and Riley Chastain (seniors). The final group award given out was for swimmers that had the best sportsmanship in their group for the month of October. The best sportsmanship award recipients are Jeo Avalos (minijet silver), Margot Cooper (minijet blue), Maddie Atkins (white group), Landon Jordan (navy group), Sarah Plummer (pre-seniors), and Iban Ullate (seniors). The swimmers that were nominated for the team Swimmer of the Month award are Dora Xue, Ella Slem, Gracie Gordon, Michelle Fumasi, Dominic Lloyd, and Maia Green. The Chico Aquajet swimmer of the month for October is Dora Xue. Our next team dinner will be Wednesday 12/14, we hope to see everyone there!
The WAC Cranberry Classic is this weekend at Sierra College. If your swimmer is 13 years old or older then they are swimming in the morning sessions, please be at the pool by 7:30am each day so that we can have a short team meeting before hopping into the pool. It will be chilly each morning when we get there so come prepared. If your swimmer is 12 years old or younger then they are swimming in the afternoon sessions, please be at the pool by 12:00pm each day so we can have a team meeting before getting in the water. Let’s go Aquajets!
Polar Bear Season has started and will continue through Friday, March 10, 2023. If a swimmer attends enough of their group’s practices, then they will get a special Polar Bear t-shirt. The percentages for each group are Seniors 80%, Pre-Seniors 75%, Navy 70%, White 65%, Minijets (both groups) 65%.
Pre-Senior and Senior group swimmers will start having 30 minutes of dryland prior to their in-water workout beginning Monday 11/28. This means Senior practices will start at 4:30 and Pre-Senior practices will start at 5:00. Each week there will be two running days and three strength focus days. There is not a set schedule for the running days so make sure that your swimmer brings running shoes to every practice.
Go check out our team store on our website to get some CAJ winter gear. There are parkas, sweatpants, and multiple types of sweatshirts to choose from!
If your swimmer is not USA swimming registered yet, please do so as soon as you can. There is a link to do so in the “USA SWIM REGISTRATION” section of this news splash.

NEW SWIMMERS: SIGN CAJ WAIVER AND HAND IT TO YOUR COACH
SWIMMER ACCOUNT REMINDER: All swimmer fees are due on the 1st day of each month and are considered late if not received by the 10th. A $10 late fee will be assessed for late payments. Notice of intent to discontinue swimming must be provided to the Chico AquaJets in writing by the 15th of the month before the date of inactivity to cancel monthly fees. Written notice should be provided through the "Contact Us'' button on the CAJ website. Verbal notice to coaches is not sufficient. Any written notice occurring after the 15th of the month before deciding to discontinue will be charged the following month. Any hanging balances left will be billed and payment will be required before any re-registration.
-
BE ADVISED: if you discontinue your membership, the $65 registration fee will be reassessed upon re-registration.
-
CAJ WEBSITE: All members must double-check your Team Unify member account to ensure that your e-mail is correct and verified. We also need you to verify your SMS number, and make sure you use dashes. This will ensure you receive ALL of our communications.
-
REMINDER FROM IN MOTION: If families discontinue their In Motion gym membership it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify In Motion that the swimmer is remaining an Aquajet swimmer. We’d also appreciate notification to the team through the “contact us” button so that our bookkeeper and membership coordinators are aware of your IMF membership status. This will assist in smooth entry to the club as well as accurate billing information for CAJ. Thanks!
Coach Andrew
