News Splash December 2

Andrew Hasek

Good Afternoon CAJ Parents,

Coach Andrew’s Corner

In Motion has asked us to enforce certain stipulations of our contract with them. These stipulations are all swimmers are not permitted to use the indoor locker rooms, outside spas, the steam rooms, or the saunas. All swimmers are to use the outside bathrooms and showers. Also all swimmers need to be supervised at all times so if your swimmer is getting dropped off early they need to sit next to the lap pool near the coaches until their practice starts.

A new month means we’re getting close to another Team Dinner. Due to a scheduling conflict, we are changing our Team Dinner to Tuesday 12/13. It will still start at 6:00pm and be located at the Round Table off Pillsbury Rd. At our Team Dinner I will make some announcements as well as handing out November awards. Come and join in the fun!

The Pre-Senior and Senior groups have started doing thirty minutes of dryland training prior to getting in the water. Senior group dryland starts at 4:30, Pre-Senior group dryland starts at 5:00. I will give both groups some time after dryland training to get ready for the in-water portion of the practice. It is a good idea for swimmers to eat a light snack and sip on some electrolytes during the transition period between the dryland and in-water portions of their practice.

Tomorrow (12/3) we are having our first Saturday practice at In Motion for our Pre-Senior and Senior groups. Both groups will practice 10:00am-12:00pm. There will be no dryland at this practice.

Our last meet of 2022 is happening on Saturday 12/17 in Redding. It is another one-day meet hosted by the SYS swim team. Signups are not open yet, but I will send an email out when the meet is opened.

There are some planned practice cancellations coming up at the end of December. There will be no Minijet practice from Monday 12/19 through Tuesday 1/3. There will be no practice for all groups from Thursday 12/22 through Monday 12/26. We are also cancelling practices for all groups from Friday 12/30 through Monday 1/2. Theses dates can also be found on our Team Calendar on our website.

Polar Bear Season has started and will continue through Friday, March 10, 2023. If a swimmer attends enough of their group’s practices, then they will get a special Polar Bear t-shirt. The percentages for each group are Seniors 80%, Pre-Seniors 75%, Navy 70%, White 65%, Minijets (both groups) 65%.

Go check out our team store on our website to get some CAJ winter gear. There are parkas, sweatpants, and multiple types of sweatshirts to choose from!

If your swimmer is not USA swimming registered yet, please do so as soon as you can. There is a link to do so in the “USA SWIM REGISTRATION” section of this news splash.

NEW SWIMMERS: SIGN    CAJ WAIVER  AND HAND IT TO YOUR COACH

SWIMMER ACCOUNT REMINDER:  All swimmer fees are due on the 1st day of each month and are considered late if not received by the 10th. A $10 late fee will be assessed for late payments. Notice of intent to discontinue swimming must be provided to the Chico AquaJets in writing by the 15th of the month before the date of inactivity to cancel monthly fees. Written notice should be provided through the "Contact Us'' button on the CAJ website. Verbal notice to coaches is not sufficient. Any written notice occurring after the 15th of the month before deciding to discontinue will be charged the following month. Any hanging balances left will be billed and payment will be required before any re-registration.

  • BE ADVISED: if you discontinue your membership, the $65 registration fee will be reassessed upon re-registration.
  • CAJ WEBSITE: All members must double-check your Team Unify member account to ensure that your e-mail is correct and verified. We also need you to verify your SMS number, and make sure you use dashes. This will ensure you receive ALL of our communications.
  • REMINDER FROM IN MOTION: If families discontinue their In Motion gym membership it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify In Motion that the swimmer is remaining an Aquajet swimmer. We’d also appreciate notification to the team through the “contact us” button so that our bookkeeper and membership coordinators are aware of your IMF membership status. This will assist in smooth entry to the club as well as accurate billing information for CAJ. Thanks!
