News Splash March 22

Andrew Hasek

Good Evening CAJ Parents,

Coach Andrew’s Corner

Signups for our March Thadness meet close tonight (3/22) at 11:59pm. Be sure to signup, if you have not done so already. If this is the first meet your swimmer is signing up for, swimconnection might give you a hard to time when trying to connect a parent/guardian account to a swimmer’s account. To work around this issue you will need to use the “Enter all info manually” option when connecting a swimmer to a parent/guardian account. While entering the swimmer’s information manually, do not enter a registration number in the box provided. Instead, just check the adjacent “Pending” box and leave the “Registration No” box blank.

For all of our Aquajets competing at the March Thadness meet this Saturday (3/22) try to be at the pool by 8:50am. We will have a team meeting then will start our warmups at 9:00am. After warmups we will have a shorter second team meeting where we will do a team cheer. The meet should be done by 2:00pm and may be done earlier than that. I encourage all swimmers to stay until the end of the meet if they can, so that they can cheer on their teammates until our whole team is done racing for the day. It is looking like we will have clear but chilly weather this Saturday. Make sure to bring multiple towels and layers so that the swimmers can stay as warm as possible in between their events. A snack bar will be available if you do not want to bring your own nutrition. I’m looking forward to a fun meet, let’s go Aquajets!

We have started using an app called TeamSnap in order to improve the ability of our team to communicate with each other, and to make it easier for our members to see upcoming events. I highly recommend you download the app and turn notifications on, so you do not miss any information. If you have not received an invite to our team’s profile on TeamSnap, send me an email and I will work to get an invite to you.

Be sure to check out our Chico Aquajets Facebook and Instagram pages for fun posts and information about the team!

Old Business

As a reminder that all Aquajets are not allowed to use the hot tubs or the inside locker rooms during or around practice times, regardless of gym membership status. Please follow these rules so we can continue having a healthy relationship with In Motion.

If you are looking for ribbons from our past few meets, they are organized in our file box by last name. Feel free to look for your ribbons or ask a coach for help.

Check out our team store on our website for some CAJ gear!

The first long course meet of the season is open! The SMST Spring Splash meet will take place Friday 4/14 through Sunday 4/16, and signups close Thursday 4/6 at 11:59pm. We practice in a 25 yard long pool which qualifies as a short course yard pool (SCY). This swim meet will compete in a long course meters (LCM) pool, which is 50 meters longs. The Olympics are swum in an LCM pool. The summer short course championships (JOs) are in an LCM pool as well, so if you are planning on attending summer JOs or are striving to attend summer JOs this spring splash meet is an excellent chance to practice racing in a 50 meter pool.

Polar Bear season is officially over, once we have the results calculated we will announce which swimmers achieved the percentage of practices necessary to earn this year’s Polar Bear t-shirt. The percentages required for each group were Seniors 80%, Pre-Seniors 75%, Navy 70%, White 65%, Minijets (both groups) 65%.

If your swimmer is not USA swimming registered yet, please do so as soon as you can. There is a link to do so in the “USA SWIM REGISTRATION” section of this news splash.

We ask that parents avoid being on deck during practice as it can be distracting to the coaches and the swimmers.

NEW SWIMMERS: SIGN    CAJ WAIVER  AND HAND IT TO YOUR COACH

SWIMMER ACCOUNT REMINDER:  All swimmer fees are due on the 1st day of each month and are considered late if not received by the 10th. A $10 late fee will be assessed for late payments. Notice of intent to discontinue swimming must be provided to the Chico AquaJets in writing by the 15th of the month before the date of inactivity to cancel monthly fees. Written notice should be provided through the "Contact Us'' button on the CAJ website. Verbal notice to coaches is not sufficient. Any written notice occurring after the 15th of the month before deciding to discontinue will be charged the following month. Any hanging balances left will be billed and payment will be required before any re-registration.

  • BE ADVISED: if you discontinue your membership, the $65 registration fee will be reassessed upon re-registration.
  • CAJ WEBSITE: All members must double-check your Team Unify member account to ensure that your e-mail is correct and verified. We also need you to verify your SMS number, and make sure you use dashes. This will ensure you receive ALL of our communications.
  • REMINDER FROM IN MOTION: If families discontinue their In Motion gym membership it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to notify In Motion that the swimmer is remaining an Aquajet swimmer. We’d also appreciate notification to the team through the “contact us” button so that our bookkeeper and membership coordinators are aware of your IMF membership status. This will assist in smooth entry to the club as well as accurate billing information for CAJ. Thanks!
