Save the date: CAJ Summer Takeoff Meet is Friday 6/14/24 - Sunday 6/16/24

CAJ Sponsorships! We are working on collecting sponsors for our swim team and are asking each swimmer to try and find at least one sponsor to help support the team. If you did not receive the email from Board President James that went into more detail sponsorships, then please let me know so I can forward it to you. We have made a lot of progress so far, thank you to all the Aquajets that have found a sponsor so far! We are in the final stretch to find sponsors, we need all payments collected by May 15. If you have not found a sponsor yet, please take the time to do so. Attached to the News Splash is the sponsorship form to be filled out.

Bring Water to practice everyday! It may not seem like it, but swimmers do sweat all the time during their practices. With the weather warming up, it means they will be sweating more. To help keep them healthy and comfortable they should bring water, or better yet an electrolyte drink, to practice everyday. Going without sufficient fluids can lead to dehydration, irritability, and poor performance in the pool. Staying hydrated is essential.

The Shasta Y Sharks Kalsbeek Family Classic Meet was on Saturday May 4. Despite the rain, it was a fun meet! Coach Melia and I had a great time watching our Aquajets race! There was a lot of best times, and more importantly I watched all of our Aquajets push themselves hard in a race. A special shoutout to Dominic Lloyd for getting his first Sierra Nevada Swimming Championships cut for his 50y Freestyle! I have attached a pdf with SNS Champs qualifying times for those that are curiours what the times look like. An extra big thank you to our Aquajet parents that volunteered their time to either officiate or sit in a timing chair, I can not express how much it is appreciated. Swim meets could not happen without the help of parent volunteers.

Swim Meet Committee Meeting is on Thursday May 16 at 6:00pm in the café at In Motion. We are a little over a month away from our very own CAJ swim meet (6/14-6/16). The members of our swim meet committee have been working extremely hard to help get this meet organized and set up. They would appreciate all the help they can get in this final month of preparation. If you are available, please come to the meeting to offer your support. Even if you can not make it to the meeting, keep an eye out for the upcoming sign-up sheets for the plethora of volunteer positions we will NEED filled to run a smooth and successful swim meet.

Old Business

  • For the safety of our swimmers please make sure to pick up your swimmer(s) on time after their practice ends.
  • In order to keep our swimmers safe and to ensure a positive relationship with In Motion Fitness I am asking our Aquajet families to adhere to the following. When swimmers are on deck, they need to follow the pool rules:
    • this includes walking on deck,
    • no horseplay
    • no foul language.
    • Aquajets are only to use the lap pool, the outside showers, and the outside bathrooms during their practice time as well as 30 minutes prior to and after their scheduled practice.
    • Aquajets that are 14 years old or younger need to be supervised at all times. If you are unable to supervise your swimmer while waiting for the start of their practice then your swimmer will need to sit at the tables located on the deep side of the lap pool so the coaches can watch them.
    • If you are going to watch the practices, please do so at the tables located on the deep side of the lap pool, which In Motion has reserved for us during our practice times. This helps keep the entire outside pool area organized and helps us work with In Motion better.
    • When picking swimmers up, make sure to follow the rules of the road in the parking lot;
      • stop at stop signs,
      • follow the speed limit of 5mph
      • do not park in the handicap spaces (if you are not approved to do so).
