COACH’S CORNER

The CAJ Autumn Aquatic Adventure on Saturday Sep 27 at the PV Pool is open for signups! Every Aquajet should plan on attending this meet. It is time to start getting back into racing and this is a great way to do so. Swimmers should plan on attending meets regularly to check-in on their progress, and to stay motivated. Athletes that don’t attend meets, have a strong chance of burning out. Also, since we are hosting this one, we will need all hands-on deck to make sure it runs smoothly. The last few meets we have hosted have impressed me with how well we have worked together to offer a positive meet experience for the swimmers. Since there are thunderstorms predicted for this week I wanted to remind everyone of our thunderstorm procedures. When there is thunder or lightning observed when at the pool then we need to stay out of the water for thirty minutes from the last observed sign of a thunderstorm. Once there has been no thunder or lightning for thirty minutes then we can resume practice. However, if a thunderstorm is observed late enough a group’s practice may be canceled. Following are the times that if thunder or lightning is noticed at or after then that group’s practice will be canceled: White group (3:30), Minijets (4:00), Navy group (5:00), Seniors and Pre-Seniors (5:45). Before those times, practices are still scheduled but could delayed/paused.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Make sure your swimmer is USA Swimming registered (the link can be found in the “USA Swim Registration” section of the Old Business/Policies and Procedures doc)
  • Make sure your swimmer brings a water bottle to every practice
