COACH’S CORNER
Polar Bear Season has started! Our annual Polar Bear season adds an extra incentive for swimmers to work hard and attend a lot of practices during the cold times of the year. If swimmers meet a certain percentage of M-F practices attended between Mon 11/3 and Sun 3/1 then they will be inducted into the 2025-2026 Polar Bear Club and awarded a speciality long sleeve shirt. Saturday practices and weekend swim meets are bonuses and can add to a swimmer's attended practice total without adding to the offered M-F practice total. Polar Bear attendance percentage for each group are as follows: Minijets (65%), White (70%), Navy (75%), Pre-Seniors (80%), Seniors (80%).
We are bringing back our Group Excellence Jars! Each group has an Excellence Jar. When a coach wants to recognize something excellent a swimmer has done at practice then we will add a pom-pom to their group’s jar. Once the jar is filled then that group will have an extra fun practice and I will bring Rice Krispy treats for each swimmer in that group to have after their extra fun practice.
Practices are canceled next week on Tuesday 11/11 in honor of Veteran’s Day.
The WAC Cranberry Classic is open for signups! This is our only scheduled meet for November. Every Pre-Senior and Senior Aquajet should sign up to race at this meet. Most White group and Navy group swimmers should also race at this meet. Especially with the weather cooling down, it is important for swimmers to go to meets on a regular basis to check on the progress and re-motivate them to work and train hard at practice. Signups close Thursday 11/13 at 11:59pm or when all spots are filled. OME Link
Winterfest is open for signups! This is a taper meet for our Pre-Senior and Senior swimmers, so I am expecting every Aquajet in those groups to race this weekend. All other Aquajets are encouraged to race at this meet as well. I hope to see many Aquajets racing and showing off their months of training at this beautiful indoor pool. OME Link
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
● Make sure your swimmer is USA Swimming registered (the link can be found in the “USA Swim Registration” section of the Old Business/Policies and Procedures doc)
● Make sure your swimmer brings a water bottle to every practice
