COACH’S CORNER
Practices will be canceled Wednesday 11/26 through Saturday 11/29 for Thanksgiving break. Since this is the last week before it is time to taper for our Seniors and Pre-Seniors, I have attached two bonus practices they may choose to do if they wish to get some extra swim training in during the break.
Swimmers should start wearing closed-toe, ideally athletic, shoes to dryland. We are introducing some more jumping and running in dryland sessions. A good pair of shoes help keep the swimmers comfortable and allow them to put out a proper effort.
Senior and Pre-Seniors will be doing dryland on Tuesday this week. Normall their dryland days are Wednesdays and Fridays, but with the break starting on Wednesday we are making Tuesday (11/25) this week a dryland to make sure we get at least one dryland session in this week for them. Remember to wear good shoes!
The Shasta Y Sharks North State Winter Championships is open for signups! This is an excellent meet for our White group and Navy group swimmers, I want to see all White group and Navy group swimmers racing at this meet. Swimmers from other groups are also encouraged to race at this meet. There will be a high point competition so make sure your swimmer signs up for four events (the entry limit) including the 50 Free if they want to compete for high point. OME Link
Winterfest is open for signups! This is a taper meet for our Pre-Senior and Senior swimmers, so I am expecting every Aquajet in those groups to race this weekend. All other Aquajets are encouraged to race at this meet as well. I hope to see many Aquajets racing and showing off their months of training at this beautiful indoor pool. OME Link
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
● Make sure your swimmer is USA Swimming registered (the link can be found in the “USA Swim Registration” section of the Old Business/Policies and Procedures doc)
● Make sure your swimmer brings a water bottle to every practice
