Volunteer Requirement

Summer swim clubs rely entirely on the dedication and support of volunteers. From organizing events and coordinating swim meets to managing club operations and fundraising, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring a successful and enjoyable experience for all swimmers and families. The Stony Plain Sharks Swim Club is no exception—we depend on the time, effort, and commitment of our members to create a positive and well-run program each season. Your participation helps build a strong swim community and provides valuable opportunities for our athletes to grow and succeed.

Each swimmer must complete 6 volunteer points, with 1 hour of volunteering equating to 1 point. Any unearned points will be charged at $100 per point.

Ways to Earn Volunteer Points:

  • Assisting at the Stony Plain Sharks swim meet, Region B Regionals, and Provincials.
  • Volunteering at club events, such as the Annual General Meeting and other social events throughout the season.

Additional volunteer opportunities will be provided in a detailed list at the beginning of the season.

Food Contribution Requirement
Families may be required to contribute one food item for the Stony Plain Sharks home swim meet and/or the Annual General Meeting.

Officials Required

Swim meets rely on officials to run smoothly. All families are required to support our home swim meet by assisting in various roles, including officiating. Additionally, for every 2-3 swimmers attending an away meet, the Club must provide one official. This year, we have designated specific officiating courses for families based on their years of involvement with the club.

Year 1: Optional - Introduction to Swimming (Formerly Timekeeping)

Year 2: Introduction to Swimming (Formerly Timekeeping)

Year 3: Safety Marshall

Year 4: Inspector of Turns or Judge of Stroke
