Mia Bottrill started the meet with a great 1500 free dropping over 25 seconds going 17.34.20 to finish 12th overall. Leading her heat start to finish she also just missed her 800 senior national cut at the 800 split by .08. Stella Jin claims gold and a club record in the 15&u 50 Fly. Stella's time of 28.24 was second fastest in the country as well. Chris Baker had a great morning swim in is 200 fly posting the second over all seed for finals. The race opened up fast and Chris was there in the mix and it came down to the last 25 and a few 1/10s difference saw him just miss the podium. Stella continued to take aim at the record board resetting the 50 fly for 13-14 girls and the women's Open record with her 27.81bronze medal performance. Stella Jin' 57.64 smashed Pam Rai's 1981 club record for 13-14 girls in the B final of the 100 free at the Thunderbolt Jnr International. The whole group swam well with May Li gettng into the club record action breaking Kristine Lawson's 2009 50 Back record. May also won the b final in the 100 IM. Coaches Frici Laszlo and Andrew Lennstrom were awarded the BC Swim Coaches Association 13&U coaches of the year at the annual Swim BC awards banquet. Congratulations to the two of you for outstanding work!
Mia Bottrill raced her way to Gold in the 1500 freestyle and the 200 fly while adding silver and bronze in the 100 fly and 800 freestyle. Mia was the runner up in the girls 17-18 aggregate award. Well done Mia!
Sehajvir Singh qualified 8th for the 200 IM and moved up to 6th in a very close race for the bronze. Wendy Yang went into the 50 Fly final having set the club record in prelimaries. She improved on that time lowering it to 28.20 finishing with the bronze medal. This was also the Open record as well as the 15-17 girls.
