With a smaller group on Friday, Hyack swimmers earn top 8 spots in several finals. First up was the 200 IM. Angel Yang had qualified first after prelims with a PB of 2:55.2. We have had a great meet here. The Keyano organization has run a top notch meet where our swimmers who attended have been able to accomplish very good early season results at or better than short course conversion best times. Finals started with a great swim from Sara Whelan in 200 free. Aiming for her Age Group time she was out touched for a medal but achieved her goal time as she went 2:21.29. Next up Stefan in the 200 Free in position for a medal going in 4th. He held tough through the first half and finished strong in a best time of 2:03.41; good for third. Stefan Milosevic won the 13/14 Boys 1500 in a time of 17:07.35. He had a smart race working methodically through the first 500 to put himself second and wore down the leader through the next 500 as he took the lead winning the event decisively. Hau-li Fan (12) was named to the prestigious NACC (North America Challenge Cup) team that will race this summer Aug 5-7, 2010 in Santa Clara California. Hyack sits fifth after two days of competition. Hard Hat winner Haydn Pak won 4 gold and a relay silver setting an all time Hyack single night scoring record with 230 points. Great distance swims with silver medals to Emily Gerson, Hau-li Fan and bronze to Abi Sayer and Stefan Milosevic. Stefan also set the club record with his 800 split. Daniel Gomez scooped a Western cut with his 800 split as well. Silver went to our 12 and under boys relay and the 14 and under boys crushed the club record. Hyack sits seventh at the end of the day.
