Record-Breaking Catch-Up
Record-Breaking Catch-Up: From Winter Grind to Spring Momentum
April 23, 2025
As we head into championship season, it's time to catch up on some well-earned updates to the NKB record board — because from the winter grind to the spring race energy, our swimmers have been steadily raising the bar.
✅ Osborn Zhang quietly made history, breaking one of the oldest marks in our books with a new 10&Under club record in the 100 Breaststroke—1:31.77. The previous record dates back to before NKB even took its current form. This is a reminder that small and mighty can make big waves.
✅ Jordan Schaepper also left a mark earlier this year, posting 4:31.50 in the 400 IM, breaking a record once held by NKB's first Olympian, Eddie Parenti. Balanced, focused, and a result of steady development across all strokes.
✅ Fast forward to spring — and at the Festival of Spring meet, the 10&Under Boys 400 Medley Relay team of Luca Wang, Osborn Zhang, Caleb Ko, and Ryan Ren combined efforts to break their age group record in 6:03.25
✅ Liam Elliott rounded out the stretch with a powerful backstroke double, setting new 13-14 Boys marks in the 100 Back (1:01.17) and 200 Back (2:12.61) — delivering sharp results under pressure as his backstroke development continues to evolve.
🏊♂️ At NKB, excellence doesn't arrive all at once — it builds, meet by meet, lap by lap. And this season, the rhythm is picking up.
Footnote: The previous 10-under breaststroke record Osborn broke was originally set before the 1991 amalgamation of Nepean Swim Club and Bayshore Barracudas, which formed NKB as we know it today.
