Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of April 29, 2013
BUENA LONG COURSE MEET
A monstrous weekend for the Paseo Aquatics swim team, with Personal Bests lighting up the clock all weekend long-- and some new Paseo Aquatics faces making us proud! Among some of the weekend's highlights:
HANNAH SIEGEL - Earned June Invite times in the 100 Free, 50 Fly, 50 Back and 200 IM! Hannah is proving to be one of the bright new stars on the Paseo Aquatics team. Way to represent, Hannah!
HANNAH RIETZEL - Dropped 5 seconds in her 100 Free and a whopping 15 seconds in her 50 Fly.
NICOLE WHITEHEAD - Dropped 14 seconds in swimming a PB in the 200 Free.
STEFFEN LAND - Swam a PB in the 200 Free and 50 Breast, then had to be rushed onto the blocks for his 100 Fly-- sans swim cap-- and still earned a Central Junior Olympic time!
SARAH ELAEBRAK - Received a PB in the 100 Free, 50 Fly and 50 Back.
ELIJAH STEPAN - New to the Paseo Aquatics team, earned a PB in the 100 Free.
RYAN DAVIS - Also a newcomer, ripped off a 31.90 in his 50 Free, dropping significant time in that race, and also earned a PB in the 100 Free.
JULIA WOLF - Swam a 29.37 in the 50 Free-- just missing the Sectional Time she was so desperately seeking. But she still salvaged a respectable weekend by sweeping the 200 Free, 100 Back, 50 Back events and dropping over 3 seconds in the 50 Fly with a 33.33.
KALEY THOMPSON - Another shiny new face to the Paseo Aquatics team, swam a 2:28.26 in the 200 Free-- and though not a PB, still a very fast swim.
REBECCA RIETZEL - Swam a PB in the 50 Fly and more than held her own in the 100 Free-- quite a feat for a 7 year old!
EMMA McDONALD - Shined in the 50 Meter Free with a PB 34.13!
SONALY WINTERMUTE - Held her chin incredibly high during a tough transition weekend as she made the switch from Canyons to Paseo. She swam a PB in the 50 Fly and fought neck-and neck with some of the top swimmers in the 12-Under Age Group in the 100 Breast, 100 Fly and 50 Free.
PALM SPRINGS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND MEET
Reminder, deadline for entering the Palm Springs meet is Wednesday, May 15th. And just to make certain it's understood, that date represents the day all entries must be RECEIVED by the Meet Director. May 15 is NOT the last day to mail out your entry. Given this is a vacation weekend and will likely be a very busy meet, it would be wise to send out entry forms NO LATER than Friday, May 10th.
PASEO AQUATICS vs SUMMIT SEALS
We have arranged an exhibition meet against the Summit Seals for Sunday, June 9th. This meet will take place at The Paseo Club and will include races for every Age Group and swim level. This is a great opportunity to introduce competitive swimming to those Paseo Aquatics swimmers who have yet to enter a meet, and allow them to compete in an environment that is both friendly and familiar.
