Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of July 8, 2013
SAN LUIS OBISPO SWIM MEET
Congratulations to all who competed in this weekend's SLO Swim Meet-- and SLO was the key word of the weekend, as the pool and the clock seemed to conspire against every swimmer in the meet, which saw very few athletes posting their best times.
That said, there were highlights galore:
JULIA WOLF and SONALY WINTERMUTE swept their 13 and 12 year old divisions, respectively, dominating everyone in their age group. They also took 1st and 2nd in the 200 Meter Free-- with Kaylee Thompson taking 5th-- to represent Paseo in that event.
RYAN DAVIS swam his first 200 Meter Free and placed 2nd, finishing very strong in his race.
CHRISTINA TAYLOR outdistanced everyone in her 100 Meter Breaststroke, swimming her 3rd fastest time in that event.
HELENA SALVINO, TEIA SALVINO and MEGAN McDONALD proudly represented Paseo's Intermediate group with solid performances in all of their races.
KAYLEE THOMPSON shined all weekend long with fantastic swims in the 200, 100 and 50 Free events.
JAMES CUSUMANO dropped time all weekend in his events-- and swam his first 50 Meter Fly.
EMMA McDONALD was the only Paseo swimmer to take on the 200 Meter Breaststroke, and did so in strong fashion.
The athletes swam proud, the Coaches worked hard, and some of the parents found a decent winery or two. All in all a successful weekend!
TEAM MOVIE DAY
We are making final arrangements for a team movie day this SUNDAY, JULY 14th.
The actual movie (we may choose two that are close in starting time since we will have both younger and older viewers) is yet to be determined. The plan will also be to join up for dinner afterwards-- likely at Buca de Beppo, immediately following the film.
Details will be announced THURSDAY, JULY 11th.
CA-NV SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Paseo Aquatics has two swimmers, BRYANA WAAGE and JULIA WOLF, who have qualified for the CA-NV SECTIONALS-- both in the 50 METER FREESTYLE.
The meet will be held right here in Santa Clarita at the Santa Clarita Aquatics complex. Bryana and Julia will be swimming Saturday morning, July 20th, so please make every effort to show your support by joining us at the meet.
SUMMER SWIM MEET - PART ll
Paseo Aquatics will host a 2nd End of Summer Swim Meet AUGUST 17th and 18th. Registration will begin JULY 15th and will be open to all swimmers ages 6-Up. This will include a MASTERS DIVISION as well!
Team Relays will be held on SATURDAY, AUGUST 17th with the INDIVIDUAL EVENTS held SUNDAY, AUGUST 18th.
TEAM BANQUET
The 2012/13 Swim Team Banquet will be held either SATURDAY, AUGUST 24th or SUNDAY, AUGUST 25th pending availability of the clubhouse.
The banquet will include dinner, entertainment, award handouts for Most Improved, Most Inspirational, Most Outstanding and Swimmer of the Year.
A registration form will be handed out shortly once all the details are finalized. The banquet is open to ALL Paseo Aquatics swimmers-- whether you have competed or not-- and family members. This event has proven to be a very fun and exciting evening.
When the registration form becomes available, please reserve your spot(s) early. The number of attendees will be capped.
