Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of July 29, 2013

2013 LONG COURSE JUNIOR OLYMPICS
 
What an AMAZING weekend for Paseo Aquatics' swimmers and Coaches, who ventured to both Fresno and Riverside, CA for the 2013 Long Course Junior Olympics, and watched one Paseo Aquatics swimmer after another drop incredible time over the 4-Day Meet!
 
Personal Bests were set, club records were shattered and new Sectional times were earned over what was, without a doubt, the most successful Paseo Aquatics swim meet ever. Among the many huge accomplishments:
 
SONALY WINTERMUTE - took home the Gold in several events and earned High Point Award as the top finisher in the 11/12 Age Group Division.
 
JULIA WOLF - Set 5 Person Best records while earning two more Sectional times in the 100 FREESTYLE and 100 BACKSTROKE. Julia also beat one of the Nation's fastest 13/14 year old swimmers in the 50 and 100 FREESTYLE, earning the Gold in both of those events.
 
BRYANA WAAGE - Swam both the 200 and 100 BREASTSTROKE against a field that included an Olympic Trial swimmer, earning Medals in both events as well as the 50 and 100 FREESTYLE.
 
ALEXANDRIA DURAN - Paseo Aquatics' de facto long-distance swimmer, earned Medals in the 1500 and 800 METER FREESTYLE, and also swam Person Bests in the 100 and 200 FREE.
 
STEFFEN LAND - Returned with two Medals in the 50 and 100 FLY, and swam several Personal Bests over the course of the meet.
 
CHRISTINA TAYLOR - Earned a spot in the Finals of both the 200 BREASTSTROKE and 100 FREESTYLE. She also swam a Personal Best in the 50 FREE, where she broke the 30 second barrier with a 29.95.
 
RYAN DAVIS - In his first ever Junior Olympics, swam Personal Bests in both the 50 and 100 FREESTYLE, and earned a spot in the Finals of both events.
 
NICOLE WHITEHEAD - Dropped a whopping 11 seconds in her 200 FREESTYLE and set Personal Best times in almost all of her races.
 
TEIA SALVINO and REBECCA RIETZEL - Our lone 8-Under swimmers more than held their own on what was a very big stage for both first-timers. Both girls dropped time in all of their events, with Teia coming close to a Finals birth in the 50 BACK and Rebecca swimming her best time in the 50 FREE.
 
ERIN NIEMI - Braved the 4 hour round trip car ride each day to compete at the SoCal JOs in Riverside, CA, and represented Paseo Aquatics as expected. Erin went up against SoCal's finest in the 100 FLY, 100 BREAST, 200 IM-- and qualified for Finals in the 200 FLY.
 
All swimmers and Coaches are to be commended on a spectacular 2012/2013 swim season!
 
Now... back in the pool to start it all over again for 2013/14 :)
 
 
PASEO AQUATICS SUMMER SWIM MEET - AUGUST 17th and 18th
 
Online registration is now available for Paseo Aquatics' End of Summer Swim Meet AUGUST 17th and 18th. This meet is open to all swimmers ages 6-Up-- MASTERS included!.
 
Team Relays will be held on SATURDAY, AUGUST 17th with the INDIVIDUAL EVENTS held SUNDAY, AUGUST 18th.

TEAM BANQUET - SATURDAY, AUGUST 24th - 5:00PM
 
The date for the 2012/13 Swim Team Banquet is SATURDAY, AUGUST 24th, 5:00PM in the Paseo Clubhouse.
 
The banquet will include dinner, entertainment, award handouts for Most Improved, Most Inspirational, Most Outstanding and Swimmer of the Year, as well as a video slideshow encapsulating the entire 2012/13 swim season.
 
The banquet is open to ALL Paseo Aquatics swimmers-- whether you have competed or not-- family members and their guests.
 
A flyer will be distributed this week, and we are taking sign-ups both online and on deck. Please indicate the number of people in your party.
 
We now have over 100 swimmers on the Paseo Aquatics team, so this event will fill up quickly and space will be limited.
 
A number of families have already submitted reservations, so secure your spot(s) ASAP!
