Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of December 9, 2013

AT&T WINTER NATIONALS 

Brushing shoulders and sharing lanes with the likes of Olympic Champions Missy Franklin, Nathan Adrian, Natalie Coughlin and Matt Grievers, LIZA KUZNETSOVA and JULIA WOLF returned from an amazing trip to the AT&T WINTER NATIONALS in Knoxville, TN over the weekend.

Liza proudly represented Paseo Aquatics as its first-ever National Qualifier in the 200 YD BACKSTROKE-- and though Julia did not wind up competing in the 50 YD FREESTYLE Time Trial, the 3-day trip proved an amazing experience for both swimmers and Coach CHRIS DAHOWSKI, who spent time promoting our program to Olympic Medalists Cullen Jones, Missy Franklin, and many of the nation's top Collegiate and Olympic coaches.

CSSC LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER 

Paseo swimmers battled the cold and the rain as they competed in this weekend's CSSC LAST CHANCE WAG QUALIFIER.

But weather could not slow down our team, as the following swimmers all earned WINTER AGE GROUP times and the opportunity to compete in the big Invitational next weekend in Palm Springs:

     KAYLEE THOMPSON - 500 and 100 FREE

     WALKER BOWEN - 1000 FREE

     VIOLET BOWEN -  50 FLY

     MAZEN HUSSEIN - 50 FREE

Congratulations to all for a job well done-- and a time standard well-earned.

WINTER AGR GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS

The WINTER AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS will begin this FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13 and run through SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15th in PALM SPRINGS, CA.

The team will be staying at the RENAISSANCE HOTEL in Palm Springs-- located just minutes from the pool.

REMINDER: For all swimmers ages 13-Up, there will be PRELIMINARIES in the morning, followed by CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS in the afternoon for the TOP 10 finishers in each race.

Most families will be heading out Thursday evening after swim practice, as many of the swimmers are competing in the 100 FREESTYLE, which begins Friday morning.

HOTEL ROOMS: If you booked a room in the block but did not qualify for an event, please advise me today if you decide to cancel your room. Families are more than welcome to join the team for the weekend, whether or not you have a swimmer competing in the meet.
