Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of December 16, 2013

WINTER AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS

The weather was perfect-- and so were Paseo's swimmers, who turned in some amazing times, making their presence known at this weekend's WINTER AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS in Palm Springs, CA.

Among the many highlights:

JOHNNY GRAGAS swam a Personal Best in the 200 FREESTYLE, finishing 4th overall in the Boys 15-18 Age Group.

SONALY WINTERMUTE placed 2nd overall in the 200 BUTTERFLY for the Girls 13-14 Age Group.

JULIA WOLF ripped a Personal Best 24.81 in the Girls 13-14 50 FREESTYLE, finishing 3rd overall in a field of 165 swimmers!

MAZEN HUSSEIN earned a spot in the meet just last weekend at the Last Chance Qualifier with his 50 FREESTYLE swim-- then bettered his time in the same event on Saturday!

ERIN NEIME came back from the flu on Friday to earn 4th place honors in the Girls 15-18 BUTTERFLY!

PEYTON BOWEN carved over 5 seconds off her 400 IM time, swimming a Personal Best in that event.  

BRYANA WAAGE dropped 2 seconds off her 200 FREESTYLE with a 2:01.

TEAM MEETING

The next Team Meeting will take place this WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18th at 6:00PM by the Jacuzzi.

We understand there have been a number of team meetings as of late, but this represents the last opportunity for the team to get together before several families break for the holidays.

Among the topics covered will be the upcoming HOLIDAY SCHEDULE, the January/February SWIM MEETS, new GROUP BREAKDOWNS and other team-related issues.

RIO MESA LAST CHANCE JO QUALIFIER

The next swim meet will be the RIO MESA JO QUALIFIER on JANUARY 11, 12 in Oxnard, CA.

This meet is open to ALL age group swimmers and also represents a last chance to earn a JUNIOR OLYMPIC qualifying time.

The DEADLINE to enter is FRIDAY, JANUARY 3rd, 2014.

Parents will receive meet information via email by this FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20th.

Coaches will meet with swimmers and/or parents the following week to finalize all entries.
