Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of January 20,2014
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA JUNIOR OLYMPICS
Team Paseo finished the SoCal Junior Olympics where they started, capturing another GOLD and wrapping up with a BRONZE.
Totaled-- Paseo Aquatics came home with 5 GOLD MEDALS, 1 SILVER and 3 BRONZE in what resulted in the most successful Junior Olympic performance ever for this team.
JULIA WOLF turned in one last Championship Final, earning the GOLD in the 100 FREESTYLE with a Personal Best 53.30, and SONALY WINTERMUTE claiming the BRONZE with her own Personal Best 53.58. SONALY would also go on to take the BRONZE in the night's last 100 BACKSTROKE event with another Personal Best time.
HANNAH SIEGEL, coming off a recent injury, looked sharp in her 50 BUTTERFLY Championship Final, placing 5th overall and showing everyone the lay-off hasn't set back her stroke or her spirit.
WILLIAM CHUNG finished the weekend with a strong 100 FREESTYLE race, placing 10th overall.
DARREN CHANG rounded out the weekend for Team Paseo taking 12th overall in the 200 BREASTSTROKE.
Words cannot describe the energy and support displayed by this team, with many of the team's non-competing swimmers and families showing up night after night for the Championship Finals-- including appearances by Paseo Club members such as the McBRIDES and our very own GM, KIM PERINO.
COACHES CHRIS DAHOWSKI, MIKAELA COWAN and HEATHER RONEY had these swimmers prepared and focused for the stage on which they swam-- and we cannot express how fortunate we are to have them lead this program.
Thank you ALL for an incredible 3 days we will long remember.
