Paseo Aquatics - News & Notes - Week of March 17, 2014

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

And green with envy should be every swimmer who missed the First Annual Paseo Aquatics POLAR PLUNGE.

Paseo swimmers young and old turned out for the event, which proved to be a FUN-raiser as well as a FUND-raiser.

Courtesy of the Newhall Ice Company, 900 LBS of ice were tossed into the pool, making the already cooler waters even more fun to navigate.

PEYTON BOWEN collected the most  gold coins with a total count of 136-- and mom and dad are now lighter in the wallet thanks to her efforts, as well as those of brother WALKER and sister VIOLET.

Money was raised for the team, Mimosas were spilling and breakfast burritos-- courtesy of Chef JP-- were abundantly consumed.

And a special thanks to NIKKI OERUM, who braved 90 degree heat to ensure a Leprechaun was present all morning long at the event. We love you, St. Nikki :)

PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN IN YOUR SPONSORSHIP FORMS, ALONG WITH CORRESPONDING CHECKS MADE PAYABLE TO: PASEO AQUATICS.

MASTERS SWIM

Yes, Masters Swimmers... the pool heaters have been turned back on :)

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SWIMMING ATTACH/UNATTACH FORMS

It is critical that ALL swimmers complete the ATTACH FORMS and turn them into COACH MIKAELA as soon as possible.

The only swimmers who should remain UNATTACHED are those competing for their High School.

All other swimmers MUST complete the official ATTACH FORM and submit it to Coach Mikaela along with a check made payable to PASEO AQUATICS for the appropriate fee.

Do NOT mail the form in yourself! The completed form must be sent in as part of a team submission.

If you have any questions on how to complete the form-- please see Coach Mikaela.

MIKE SNYDER FAMILY DONATION

A very special Thank You to those who so generously donated to the SNYDER FAMILY.

We recently competed at the CENTRAL CALIFORNIA JUNIOR OLYMPICS-- a meet at which we all experienced a great deal of success and excitement.

Paramount to pulling off that event was the work of MIKE SNYDER, a prominent member of CCS and the Clovis Swim Team, whose daughter, Caitlyn Snyder, is the top ranked swimmer in CCS and a girl our own Julia Wolf has swam head to head with for many years.

Last week, Mike Snyder tragically passed away at a very young age from a heart attack. He was attending his daughter's meet and had just watched her swim when the incident struck.

CCS has been collecting donations for the family during this very difficult time-- and thanks to the generous contributions of many Paseo families, Paseo Aquatics was able to make a sizeable donation to the fund.

We will likely meet up with the Snyder family during the Central California Long Course Junior Olympics-- and I'm certain there will be a mention of Mike Snyder at that event.

LONG COURSE PRACTICE VENUE

The team is looking into securing the EL CARISO POOL in Sylmar for the purposes of conducting a Long Course Saturday practice.

Information will be forthcoming on the exact dates/times.

The team will NOT be entering the Rio Mesa Long Course meet for various reasons.

Paseo's first official Long Course swim meet will be the BUENAVENTURA LONG COURSE MEET on APRIL 26, 27 in VENTURA, CA.
