NEWS & NOTES - WEEK OF MAY 12th, 2014
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SWIM MEET - VENUE CHANGE!
The site for the team's next swim meet has changed.
Paseo Aquatics will now be competing in the CSSC MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND LONG COURSE MEET on
MAY 23-25 (Fri, Sat & Sun-- No Events on Mon, Memorial Day) to be held at the CAL LUTHERAN POOL in THOUSAND OAKS, CA.
The reason for the change is that the CSSC Meet will be hosting RELAYS. The Canyon Meet will not.
This meet represents the ONLY opportunity Paseo Aquatics will have to qualify a Relay Team for both June Invites and/or the Junior Olympics.
Remember: you must be entered in the meet to be eligible for a Relay.
Please "Commit" to this meet online at our
paseoaquatics.org website.
We will be submitting meet entries TODAY, MONDAY, MAY 12th, so contact your respective coaches if there is a specific event in which you want to compete.
CONGRATS TO OUR CIF QUALIFIERS!
Last week wrapped up the Foothill League Championships, with some amazing races and Personal Bests by several Paseo Aquatics team members.
Among the highlights:
BRYANA WAAGE - secured a CIF time in the 100 FREE with a 54.42.
KEVIN MOORE - earned a spot in the 50 and 100 FREESTYLE, while also claiming history with his effort in the 200 YARD FREESTYLE RELAY that set a new Foothill League record!
DEREK CHANG - swam a Personal Best in the 100 BREASTSTROKE with a 101.64-- dropping over 3 seconds from his Prelim time.
ERIN NIEMI - qualified for CIF Finals in the 100 BUTTERFLY.
LIZZIE LEATHERS - represented our Division 4 athletes by landing a spot in the 100 BUTTERFLY Finals.
Congratulations to all who competed with courage and spirit for their High Schools this year.
We are planning a very special Senior Send-off at the team Banquet this summer-- and will be welcoming in a new crop of Freshman for next year's swim season.
Way to go, swimmers-- and way to go PASEO!!
TIMING ASSIGNMENT REGISTRATIONS
Parents can now secure their preferred Timing Assignments online at our Paseoaquatics.org website.
Once the officials have released the Team Seat Assignments for each respective meet, parents will have the opportunity to reserve a preferred chair time on a first-come, first-served basis.
Any chair assignments still vacant will then be filled by the Coaches, subject to the meet layout (12-Unders in the morning will be filled by parents of those swimmers, etc).
We hope this new format will make it easier and more efficient to designate all future Timing requirements.
SWIM MEET vs WAVES HOA - JUNE 8th, 2014
Paseo Aquatics is hosting a swim meet against the WAVES HOA swim club on
SUNDAY, JUNE 8th at THE PASEO CLUB.
This will be a huge event for our team, as we anticipate a meet with over 100 swimmers and 300-400 family members from both clubs in attendance.
We will need all volunteer hands on deck-- literally-- to pull this off.
The meet will require volunteers for timing, registration, snack table, meet set-up and break down. Emails will be forthcoming with more details.
This meet will be geared primarily for swimmers in the Elite Bronze, Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner levels; however, the Waves team will make the final call with respect to the highest level of swimmers they enlist. If need be, we will call upon our Silver and Gold groups to participate.
If Silver and Gold groups do not compete, we expect as many of those swimmers as possible to volunteer at the meet and be there to cheer their younger swimmers to victory :)
BILL KRUMM - USA-SWIMMING WESTERN ZONE DIRECTOR - TEAM VISIT
BILL KRUMM, USA-Swimming's Western Zone Director, will be paying a formal visit to Paseo Aquatics on
MONDAY, JUNE 16th.
As a newly Sanctioned club, USA-Swimming is extending this visit for Coaches, Staff and Parents to learn more about USA-Swimming and its benefits, as well as providing their representative an opportunity to see our team and facilities first-hand.
Mr. Krumm has indicated he has a 60 minute presentation for PARENTS that is extremely informative and helpful. A formal SIGN-UP sheet will be forthcoming for all families interested in attending this session. The time is yet to be determined, but will likely fall around the lunch hour.
