PASEO AQUATICS - NEWS & NOTES - WEEK OF JULY 21st, 2014
PASEO AQUATICS DOMINATES CENTRAL CALIFORNIA JUNIOR OLYMPICS!
With a team half the size of its top competitors, and several swimmers unable to contribute points due to their "Unattached" status, Paseo Aquatics stormed into Fresno, California this past weekend and took total control of the CENTRAL CALIFORNIA JUNIOR OLYMPICS.
After posting more top 3 finishers than all but two squads, Paseo Aquatics came away with a 5TH PLACE overall finish out of 36 teams.
Every swimmer in every age group contributed to the team total, with Personal Bests and record swims lighting up the scoreboard. Among the too-numerous-to-mention highlights:
TEIA SALVINO - Took home the HIGH POINT AWARD for the GIRLS 8-UNDER division with 1st place finishes in the 50 BUTTERFLY; 50 BACKSTROKE and 2nd in the 50 FREESTYLE.
ALLISON SCHEPPER - Paseo's newcomer didn't waste any time announcing herself, as she swam away with the Gold in the GIRLS 15-UP 50 METER FREESTYLE event.
WILLIAM CHUNG - still working his way back from a layoff, tore up the BOYS 15-UP division with a 1st place victory in the 200 IM as well as Silver Medals in the 100 METER BUTTERFLY and 200 METER BREASTSTROKE.
JOSEPH PARK - Made his presence earning a Gold Medal in the BOYS 12-UNDER 200 METER IM to go along with his 2nd place finishes in the 50 METER BUTTERFLY and 100 METER BACKSTROKE.
CHRISTINA TAYLOR - Rewrote her own record book with a 1st place finish in the GIRLS 15-UP 100 METER BUTTERFLY, posting a Personal Best in the Prelims and then topping it with an amazing 107.00 in the Finals!
SONALY WINTERMUTE - continued her miraculous season with 1st place finishes in the 200 METER IM; 400 METER IM and 200 METER FREESTYLE events.
JULIA WOLF - Rocked the meet with her Gold Medal swim in the 50 METER FREESTYLE, breaking a near-20 year old Central California Record of 27.10 set back in 1995 with her time of 27.09! Julia also took home top honors in the 100 METER FREESTYLE and 100 METER BACKSTROKE.
CONGRATS - To the Relay Team of
BROOKE COFFEY, CHRISTINA TAYLOR, LIZZIE LEATHERS and ALLISON SCHEPPER for taking 1st in the WOMENS 15-UP 200 METER FREE RELAY.

TWO-A-DAYS; SATURDAY MORNING PRACTICES END
REMINDER: there are NO MORE two-a-day practices or
Saturday morning practices this summer. The last three swim meets of the 2013/14 season (Sectionals, SoCal JOs and Western Zones) are approaching and the team is in a full taper mode.

PASEO AQUATICS TEAM BANQUET
REMINDER: There are 10 DAYS LEFT to secure your spot at the PASEO AQUATICS TEAM BANQUET, to be held
MONDAY, AUGUST 11TH, 6:00PM at the KNOLLWOOD COUNTRY CLUB in GRANADA HILLS.
We are planning a night of fun and excitement, including KARAOKE, DINNER and DRINKS, TEAM AWARDS, the launching of our new PASEO AQUATICS LOGO and GEAR, and of course our 2013/14 Swim Season DVD.
In addition, our very own REBECCA SONI will be attending the event and will be bringing her GOLD MEDALS for all to see!
The Banquet is open to ALL Paseo Aquatics swimmers-- whether you have competed or not-- as well as family members, relatives and friends.

PASEO AQUATICS END OF SUMMER OPEN SWIM MEET
Paseo Aquatics will host an END of SUMMER SWIM MEET to include all of the HOAs and local REC swimmers. The event will be open to ALL GROUP LEVELS, and should result in a very large turnout.
In addition to all the fun, our very own TRACY TOLEDO is arranging a JOLYN TRUNK SHOW at the club to be held the day of the meet with their newest and latest swimsuits!
AUGUST CALENDAR
As a reminder, the 2013/14 swim season is winding to a close, with preparations already underway for the launch of the 2014/15 season, which begins officially
SEPTEMBER 1st, 2014.
The Paseo Aquatics Calendar for AUGUST will be as follows:
AUGUST 1ST - AUGUST 15TH: OPEN ENROLLMENT
New Swimmers looking to join the Paseo Aquatics Swim Team will enroll during these two weeks. Existing swimmers will re-commit during this period as well.
Information and enrollment instructions will be sent to all current Paseo Aquatics Swim Team members in the coming days.
AUGUST 4TH (Mon) - AUGUST 15TH (Fri:) MANDATORY TEAM SHUTDOWN FOR ALL ELITE GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE and ADVANCED SWIMMERS.
There will be NO SWIM PRACTICE for all Elite Gold, Silver, Bronze and Advanced swimmers during the Mandatory Shut Down period (swimmers will receive a 50% discount on their monthly dues for August).
INTERMEDIATE and BEGINNER swimmers will have the option to continue attending practice during the Mandatory Team Shutdown.
AUGUST 11TH (Mon): PASEO AQUATICS TEAM BANQUET - 6:00PM.
Knollwood Country Club, Granada Hills.
AUGUST 18th (Mon): PRACTICE RESUMES
Swim practice will resume for ALL Group Levels at this time. Pool Sites and Times TBD.
AUGUST 22ND (Fri): MANDATORY SWIM TEAM ORIENTATION MEETING - 7:00PM
Coaches and Staff will lay out the full 2014/15 SHORT COURSE SCHEDULE, including PRACTICE TIMES, MEET DATES, etc. There will also be a presentation on how to register online for swim meets.
AUGUST 24TH (Sun): PASEO AQUATICS END OF SUMMER OPEN SWIM MEET.
