PASEO SWIMMERS FINISH SEASON WHERE THEY BEGAN: ON TOP !

 

LIZA KUZNATSOVA, JULIA WOLF and WILLIAM CHUNG closed out the 2013/14 swim season in style at the WESTERN ZONE SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, held July 31st - August 3rd in Fresno, CA.

 

This was by far the largest meet of the year-- with swim clubs from Texas to Hawaii comprising a field of over 1,400 premier athletes.

 

JULIA WOLF took on an Open Division of almost 400 swimmers in the WOMEN'S 50 METER FREESTYLE, finishing 3RD overall while matching her fastest time of 27.09 in the Championship Final. 

 

LIZA KUZNETSOVA qualified for the Consolation round of the 200 METER BACKSTROKE, placing 31st out of 160 top swimmers.

 

WILLIAM CHUNG, competing in his first-ever Zone Championship, battled a very competitive field in the 200 IM, 50 FREESTYLE, 100 BREASTSTROKE and 100 BUTTERFLY.

 

COACH MIKAELA COWAN, leading her 3rd straight swim meet in as many weekends, guided the swimmers through an exhausting and sweltering 4 day event. They are ALL to be commended on an amazing meet-- and season!

 

 

MANDATORY TEAM SHUTDOWN

 

As most of you are now aware, AUGUST 4th - AUGUST 17th represents a MANDATORY SWIM SHUT DOWN for Paseo Aquatics, meaning there are no formal practice sessions during the break.

 

Swimmers are encouraged to unwind and re-charge throughout the two week period. For some, this is the first extended break in a long, long time. Take advantage and enjoy the downtime.

 

But being elite athletes does not mean ignoring your bodies. Eat smart. Go for a walk or light jog. Some swimmers have expressed interest in Pilates and Yoga classes. Others have scheduled private lessons to work on technique and educational aspects of their swimming that are difficult to receive during the season.

 

It's your time. Just be wise as to how you spend it.

 

 

PASEO AQUATICS TEAM BANQUET

The 2013/14 Swim Season Team Banquet is ready to roll-- and what a night it's going to be! This will be our largest-- and without a doubt most AMAZING-- event to date.

 

The Staff has put together an evening of KARAOKE, PHOTO BOOTHS, incredible FOOD, and an unforgettable AWARDS CEREMONY for all to enjoy. There will also be a special tribute to our departing Seniors-- and of course the evening will be capped off with our Season-In-Review DVD.

 

The deadline has passed for Registration. But if you either overlooked the date or had a change of plans and are now able to attend, please contact KELLY DAVIS ( [email protected]) about the prospect of late sign-ups. There may be a few openings available.
