Lifetime Anti Bullying policy

Lifetime Colorado Swimming Anti- Bullying Policy

Lifetime Colorado Swimming, as an active participant in USA Swimming, has adopted its own anti-bullying policy.  It is our position that no amount of bullying is acceptable. If you are being bullied, or know of someone being bullied, you must tell a parent, coach, or a director.   We cannot address a situation if we do not have knowledge of it.

All situations of perceived bullying need to be reported to the coaching or management staff.  The staff will investigate the situation and make the determination if any action needs to be taken.  If a person involved in LIFE (this includes swimmers, coaches, staff, parents and volunteers) has taken part in bullying behavior, a warning will be given. If the behavior continues, that person may be subjected to sanctions such as suspension from the team and all its activities.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is a repeated, negative unwanted action toward another individual. There is usually an imbalance of perceived power between the bully and the victim.

The most popular forms of bullying are:

Verbal:  name calling, teasing, racial comments, sarcasm, rumors, mean spirited comments, intimidation.

Social:  mobbing, excluding, humiliating, using graffiti aimed at others, putdowns.

Physical: unwanted touching, hitting, spitting, tripping, shoving, pushing, being aggressive.

Cyber: similar to verbal bullying but is done online or through texting or social media
