Taylor Recck Head Coach

Taylor has been a coach for the Meriden Silver Fins Swim Team since 2013 and is now in her fifth year as head coach for the 2023-2024 season.

Taylor has Swam for Berlin High School Girls Varsity Swim Team (Fall 2008- Fall 2011) and wascaptain senior year. She has also swam with Meriden Silver Fins (2010-2012), Newington Swim Club (2007-2010), and Berlin Dolphins Swim Team (2004-2010).

During her coaching career with the Silver Fins, Coach Taylor has coached multiple 8 & under, Regional, Age Group, Senior, Eastern Zones, Sectional and Futures qualifiers and champions. She has assisted the team in establish CT Top 16 and Scholar Athletes annually. Coach Taylor specializes in incorporating mental and visual training into all swim groups practices.

She is a graduated from Berlin High School (2012), Southern Connecticut State University BS in Communication Disorders (2017), and Mercy College MS in Speech Language Pathology (2019).

She is currently a speech and language pathologist within the CREC school district

Ryan Verrillo Assistant Coach

Coach Ryan has been an assistant coach with the Meriden Silver Fins since September 2019.
He started his swimming career as a Meriden Silver Fin at the age of six and swam with the Fins for twelve years. Ryan swam and graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven before he moved on to college swim. He swam one season at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York (NCAA Division 3 School).  

Ryan graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in 2018 with a BA in Film and Television Production. Previously, he was the assistant coach for Notre Dame High School from 2019-2021, assistant coach at University of Saint Josephs 2021-2022, and  assistant coach for the Meriden Girls Co-op High School in 2022.

Leah Verrillo Assistant Coach

Coach Leah has been an assistant coach for the Meriden Silver Fins since September 2020.

Leah is a former Fins herself starting at the age of 6 until she joined the swim team at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford. In her senior year she was a co-captian and participated in the 400 medley relay that broke the school record.

Leah finished her masters degree in special education from the University of Saint Josephs in December and is currently a special education teacher in Watery.

Leah also works closely with the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. She is currently raising her 3rd dog, Mater, who makes  frequent appearances on our social media pages

Leah is also the sister to our assistant coach Ryan!

Connor Recck Assistant Coach

Connor has been a coach with the Meriden Silver Fins since 2023

Connor is a former Fin! His in water accomplishments include making Seniors at a 13 year old, and making Sectionals his junior and senior year. Connor also swam one year at Trinity College. Connor has previous experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and currently is the aquatic direct for the City of New Britain.

Connor is a graduate of Trinity college.
