Tyler Will, Head Coach

Tyler coaches the Blue 1 and Blue 2 swim teams while overseeing overall operations of the swimming program. He is a former member of the YMCA Gators Swim Team and a 2009 graduate of Emerald High School. After graduating from high school, he began coaching at his two alma maters. In 2014 he was promoted to Head Coach of his alma mater, Emerald High School. Under his guidance, the team doubled in size and reached as high as 6th place in the state meet while breaking over 80% of the team records. In 2017, Tyler was promoted to Co-Head Coach of the Greenwood Gators. While Head Coach, he helped lead the team to three consecutive Summer State Championships. Greenwood also hosted Winter State for the smaller division and took home their first ever Winter State Championship in 2020, while seeing the team grow by over 50%. Upon arriving in Seneca, he has built the team from the ground up, with numbers approaching 100 swimmers while also finishing as State Champions in Y Summer and Winter State. He has coached numerous Y State Champions, Y Regional Champions, USA State Top 3, USA State Champions, Sectional qualifiers, and Y-National qualifiers as well as having several of his swimmers ranked in the top 150 in their age group nationally. He is also President of the Carolina YMCA Swim League, a position he has held since 2020. He is Also ASCA Level 3 certified. Tyler graduated from Lander University in 2014 with a B.A. in Music and composes music for video games and films as his other job. 

ASSISTANT COACHES

Danielle Brooks 

Danielle coaches our Blue 2 and Silver Team swimmers as well as the Summer Swim League at the Foothills Y. She is entering her 3rd year coaching our team. During this time, she helped establish the White Team and Swim Academy, while bringing structure to both groups. Danielle is a 2022 Graduate and swam for the Bluefins until graduation. She currently attends Lander University where she is working towards her Nursing Degree. Danielle has her ASCA Level 1 certification. We are delighted to have her on our team! 

Davis Dial 

Davis is a rising senior and swims for the Bluefins. He is currently coaching our White Team and Swim Academy and in the Summer coaches the Walhalla Summer League team. He has helped grow our 8&Under program and Summer league while also being an integral part of the swim team as a swimmer. He is currently looking at several colleges to swim in upon graduation. He is ASCA level 2 certified. We love having Davis coaching! 

Scott Morris 

Scott is a volunteer coach graciously offering his coaching expertise and insight to our team. He assists Blue 1,2, and 3 as well as individual swimmers as needed. He has an extensive coaching career including Wilmington Aquatic Club, Clemson Aquatic Club, Clemson University, Virginia Tech University. He has coached all levels of swimmers from beginner to Olympian. He also served as Vice President of Sales at Speedo for many years. We are lucky to have him coaching on our team! 

Rachel O’Dell 

Rachel is our newest addition to our coaching staff, joining December 2022. She has brought enthusiasm, fun, and energy into our team while also being a caring and strong coach! Rachel has swam for several Columbia area club, summer league, and high school teams. She also currently serves as the Co-Head Coach of the Quail Hollow Summer League team in Columbia, SC. She coaches Blue 2 and Blue 3, while assisting with Swim Academy in the Fall. Rachel currently attends Clemson, working towards a degree in Psychology. She is ASCA Level 2 certified. We love having Rachel on our team! 

Trevor Shepherd 

Trevor is one of our longest serving coaches, finishing up his second year coaching the Silver Team. He will be transitioning to our Blue 3 group this summer. This Fall Trevor will be swimming at Emory and Henry, while working towards a degree in Spanish. Trevor is an excellent coach who has grown to be a wonderful team leader who will make an outstanding head coach one day!
