Pine Crest Defeats Westminster Academy
Pine Crest boys and girls swimming and diving won their opening dual meet against Westminster Academy making this the 14th year in a row that Pine Crest has won their season opener. Pine Crest boys beat WA 119 to 67 and Lady Panthers defeated the Lions 133 to 55.
The boys used a mixture of depth and strong wins in key events to put the team in front, however, WA opened up the meet strong with a win the 200 Medley Relay; 200 free; 50 free; and diving but our boys came back with Gotti Eisenberger winning the 200 IM and the 100 free; Thomas Veale also had a double win the 100 fly and 500 free; Marcel Betschart won the 100 back and Ryohei Takatsuchi won the 100 breast. The Panthers closed out the meet with a strong win the 4x100 free relay with the team of Thomas Veale, Austin Evenson, Delaney Brock, and Ryan Walter.
Westminster won the 200 free but PC placed 2nd, Austin Evenson; 3rd, Marcel Betschart; 4th, Ryan Walter; and 5th, John Rudnik. In the 200 IM, Julian Jimenez, Erik Erton, Ryohei Takatsuchi placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th behind their winning teammate Gotti Eisenberger. In the 50 free Descartes Holland and Jose Arrillaga placed 2nd and 3rd. Blake Anderson was 4th in diving. Jose Arrillaga was 2nd and Jason DeVenuto 4th in the 100 fly. Delaney Brock and Ryan Walter were 3rd and 4th in the 100 free. Austin Evenson, Julian Jimenez, and John Rudnik were 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 500 free. Delaney Brock and Jason DeVenuto were 2nd and 3rd in the 100 back. And Erik Erton, Ed Walker, Christin Biljsma placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 100 breast.
The Lady Panthers opened up with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Stephanie Moeller, Nathalie Biljsma, Rebecca Aiello, and Siena DeVenuto. In the 200 free Alina Schulhofer and Brittany Hammond went 1-2 with Mallory McKeon placing 4th. In the 200 IM it was PC sweep with Siena DeVenuto, 1st; Miriyam Ghali, 2nd; Anastasia Hediger, 3rd; and Miriam Crispo, 4th. The 50 free saw Stephanie Moeller and Nathalie Biljsma go 1-2 and Jennifer Aguirre, Cheyenne Allenby, Ebony Calloway were 2nd; 3rd and 4th in diving. In the 100 fly, Jessica Kazmin, placed 2nd with Alina Schulhofer and Ana Rodriguez placing 3rd and 4th. Rebecca Aiello and Brittany Hammond teamed up to go 1-2 in the 100 free, with Katie Quinn placing 4th. In the 500 free it was a 1-2-3 sweep with Mallory McKeon, Hannah Veale, and Savanna Gornisiewicz. In the 100 back, Stephanie Moeller, Rebecca Aiello, Miriyan Ghali placed 2nd; 3rd and 4th. The 100 breast was a 1-2-3-4 sweep with Siena DeVenuto, Nathalie Biljsma, Ana Rodriguez, Anastasia Hediger. The closed out the meet with a strong win the 400 free relay with Siena DeVenuto, Rebecca Aiello, Stephanie Moeller, and Alina Schulhofer.
