Pine Crest Swimming Stands For Safe Sport!
Our Commitment to Athlete Safety
At USA Swimming, the safety and welfare of our athletes is the highest priority. Through its Safe Sport initiative, USA Swimming provides a comprehensive abuse-prevention program designed to protect athletes from all forms of misconduct, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Safe Sport equips clubs, coaches, volunteers, and parents with the education, tools, and resources needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to risky situations, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants.
Pine Crest Swimming fully endorses and supports USA Swimming’s Safe Sport programs, as well as the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP). These programs are more than policies—they are a commitment to creating a culture of safety, accountability, and respect in our sport. Every member of our community plays a role in this effort:
Coaches are responsible for maintaining professional and ethical relationships with athletes, creating structured and safe training environments, and reporting any concerns immediately.
Volunteers are expected to follow Safe Sport guidelines, assist in safeguarding athletes during practices, meets, and travel, and serve as positive role models.
Parents and guardians share responsibility by monitoring their child’s experiences, communicating openly with coaches, and reporting any suspicious or unsafe behavior.
All Safe Sport policies are enforceable through USA Swimming’s National Board of Review process. Consequences for violating these policies can be serious, ranging from warnings and mandatory training to suspension or revocation of membership. Our primary goal is not punishment, but prevention—ensuring every athlete can participate in swimming free from abuse, harassment, or neglect.
At Pine Crest Swimming, we are committed to fostering a culture where safety, respect, and athlete well-being are central to everything we do. Protecting young athletes is not just the responsibility of a few—it is the duty of our entire community. By adhering to Safe Sport principles, we ensure that every swimmer can train, compete, and grow in a safe, supportive, and positive environment.
