MEET OUR COACHES
Head Diving Coach
Janet earned her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Indiana University, where she trained under Olympic Coach Hobie Billingsley and competed in diving and gymnastics. She was a national finalist on multiple diving events and represented IU in major collegiate and Olympic Trials competitions.
After graduating, Janet taught Physical Education and coached diving and gymnastics at The Hockaday School before becoming Head Age Group Coach of the Longhorn Diving Club at the University of Texas. Over ten years, she developed national champions, international team members, and led her team to ten state titles, earning the 1986 Texas Age Group Coach of the Year.
She later served as Director of Safety, Education, and Development for USA Diving (1987–2003), where she launched the Dive Safe program and contributed extensively to educational diving materials.
Since 2008, Janet has been the Varsity and Club Diving Coach at Pine Crest School, guiding numerous divers to state finals. She holds professional teaching and USA Diving safety certifications and has been recognized with the Whosam Award (1994), ISHOF Paragon Award (1996), and Glenn McCormick Memorial Award (2000) for her service to the sport.
Assistant Diving Coach
Kivanc Gur is a world-class diver representing Turkey on the international stage. He has competed in the FINA Diving Grand Prix, European Diving Championships, and the 2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
During his collegiate career with the University of Louisville, Kivanc made history as the first Turkish diver to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships and broke the team’s platform diving record at the ACC Championships with a score of 371.40. He helped lead the Cardinals to the 2021 ACC Team Championship and earned CSCAA Division I All-American honors the same year.
